SG-1 are on sandy world (P3X-562) that has a number of areas full of blue crystals. All the crystals seem to be blasted apart but Daniel manages to find a whole one. Jack goes off on his own and finds another whole crystal. When he touches it he gets thrown back by an energy blast and is knocked unconscious. Another Jack now stands over the real Jack. Daniel calls Jack over the radio saying that they have finished surveying the area, the imposter Jack returns to the SGC with them.
Hammond gives SG-1 some downtime so 'Jack' goes to his locker. He looks through some pictures of his family, especially his son Charlie, it seems this Jack has the real Jack's memories. 'Jack' sees the an address on a letter and leaves.
Sam and Daniel examine the crystals they bought back with them. Sam looks at the cuts on the crystal and tells Daniel she has seen similar marks before in the base.

'Jack' arrives at his ex-wife Sara's house. He says he needs to see Charlie and asks her if he is there. Sara is disgusted and runs off. Sara's dad comes out and lets 'Jack' in, he goes to Charlies room and remembers more stuff about him, including his death.
At the SGC they get Teal'c to fire his staff weapon at the broken crystal and then compare the energy readings and blast marks to those they have already seen, they are the same, the Goa'uld destroyed the crystal. Later as Daniel looks more closely at the whole crystal he sees a face start to form in it. Sam takes a look at the crystal forms her face and asks them for help.

At that time the gate dials up, the real Jack returns wondering what the hell is going on. Hammond has him locked up but after a while of observation they decide they do have the real Jack, they put out a search for the other one.
'Jack' and Sara are in the park talking about their past. After a while Jack suddenly writhes on the floor in agony, electricity seems to run over his body. Sara rushes him to the hospital.
Jack collapses in pain.
Back at the SGC Frasier gives Jack the okay. They show Jack the tape of his other self returning with them. Sam surmises that the crystal can clone them and read their thoughts. They go to try and communicate with the one they have on the base, it tells them that the Goa'uld came to their world and they accidentally killed one of them, the Goa'uld destroyed them in revenge, it also says that it is dieing as its energy is dwindling, it needs to be returned home.
Sam tells them all that the crystals energy is radioactive and could give people a serious dose of radiation. She tells them that the other 'Jack' was looking through Jack's things in his locker, especially his family stuff. Jack tries to phone Sara but can't get through. Hammond finds out that a J. O'Neill has been admitted to a local hospital, SG-1 set off to it.
Arriving at the hospital they head off to the room 'Jack' is in. The two Jack's talk and our Jack tells the clone that he means him no harm. The clone tells Jack that when it injured him it tried to revive him but couldn't, finding out his deepest pain was that of Charlie's death it set off to try and bring Charlie to him. Jack tells it Charlie is gone, but it tells him Charlie is in his heart and always will be, he then turns into Charlie.
The entity turns into Charlie.
Jack takes it to see Sara and then back to the SGC, Jack then takes it back to 562.
