Sam meets her husband Joe in a restaurant. She tells him some bad news, she is still not pregnant, it isn't either of their faults the Aschen doctors have assured her, they just need to keep trying. Joe tells her to get a second opinion but Sam says that the Aschen are 100 years more advanced in medicine than we are, there is no point. Arriving at the stargate terminal via a transporter device they kiss goodbye and Joe leaves to go to an off-world colony.
A while later Daniel, Sam and Teal'c are together at the terminal attending a special celebration in their honour. The President (Kinsey) addresses them and thanks them for the work they did on the stargate and mostly for a peaceful first contact 10 years previously with the Aschen on P4C-970 which allowed him to forge the greatest alliance the world has ever had and saved them all from the Goa'uld. At the end of his speech they are all presented with medals, apart from Jack who can't be present.
After the award they are all together along with Doctor Frasier and Joe. General Hammond has died 6 years earlier and they all miss him deeply, Jack also isn't there because he doesn't agree with the Aschen alliance. Sam and Frasier walk and talk together, she has been trying to have a child for 3 years and Frasier offers her a second opinion, even though she has been made obsolete by Aschen medical science, Sam agrees. In her office Frasier comes back with the results, the Aschen doctors have missed something that is impossible to miss, Sam's ovaries have been seriously damaged, she can never have kids. Sam is very upset, the Aschen doctors have looked her in the eyes and lied to her, why? Doctor Frasier offers to help her find out.
Frasier gives Sam the bad news.
Later in the day Sam arrives at work with her Aschen colleague, Molum. They are studying the idea of converting Jupiter into a sun and Sam says she has some ideas but needs access to the Aschen computer core, Molum grants her access and leaves her too it. Frasier then arrives and they search the database for information on human reproduction, they find the birth rate has been cut by 91% in the last 2 years, they are both horrified and Frasier seems particularly upset. They agree to talk at dinner that evening.
At dinner, Daniel, Frasier, Sam and Teal'c are discussing what Sam and Frasier have found out. Frasier tells them that she believes Hammond was murdered, the night before he died he had called her and said he had found something out that was very important and they needed to talk, the next thing she knew he was dead. Teal'c says that it is obvious the Aschen are implementing a patient plan to take over the planet. They all agree to keep it to themselves and when Daniel says he wishes they could take everything that has happened back Sam realises they may be able to. Remembering what happened when they ended back up in 1969 Sam says they possibly can take it all back by changing the past.
Old friends discuss a new problem.
Sam goes to see Jack and asks for his help, but he will have nothing to do with it, it seems a rift has occurred between him and the others over there views on the Aschen, Jack also seems personally disappointed in Sam. Sam leaves. Back at the gate terminal she tells Daniel and Teal'c Jacks answer, they are disappointed but agree to continue with the plan they have. Teal'c will return to Chulak as planned and herself and Daniel will visit the SGC, now a museum, and get hold of the only remaining GDO.

As they walk around the gate room they bump into Jack. They all go to the dialling room and Jack shows them that he has got some weapons and also a GDO, unfortunately it is a fake. They are interrupted by one of the staff, it is the chevron man, his name is Walter. Jack manages to talk him into letting them 'borrow' the stuff for old times sake and also finds out the real GDO is on Kinsey's desk at the White House. Sam says she can get Joe to retrieve it.

That night Sam discusses the situation with Joe. It seems he knew about the birthrate thing, it was an agreement they made with the Aschen so that they could form the alliance, but 91% was never agreed, even he is shocked at that figure, he agrees to help her.
The next day they are all in Sam's lab using the Aschen computer to detect Solar Flares, Sam sees one building up, it is in 57 minutes time.

Joe arrives, he isn't pleased to see Jack is involved but tells them he has the GDO but will only let them have it if Sam is not involved, Jack agrees to this.
At the gate terminal Joe gives Jack the GDO. Frasier meanwhile goes off to Chulak to get Teal'c while Daniel wonders about waiting for his part. Molum sees Jack and goes to talk to him, hoping to heal some old wounds, but he gets suspicious, especially when Teal'c and another Jaffa arrive with staff weapons.

Daniel then starts making a fuss at the customs point and Teal'c kills the attendant at the gate, Jack zats Molum. Teal'c starts dialling as the automated defences start up. Jack heads towards the gate as Teal'c, his friend and Daniel try taking out the defences. Outside Sam pulls away from Joe and rushes back in. Teal'c and his friend are killed and Jack nearly makes it before being shot down.

Daniel now rushes towards the gate but is also killed. Sam arrives and sees everyone dead, she now goes towards the gate and picks up Jack's message, as the defences fire upon her she manages to throw the message through the gate with her last breath.
At the SGC in the year 2000 the gate dials up and an SG-1 iris code is received even thought they are there. Hammond orders the iris open to see what is going on and the note comes through. Reading the note they are told not to go to P4C-970, it is Jack's hand writing and signed by him. Hammond orders that the address be removed from the dialling computer and that the planet will not be visited. As he leaves and Frasier goes off to examine the blood on the note, Daniel, Jack, Sam and Teal'c are left to ponder when, where and why the note was sent.
