THE PLOT

SG-1 come flying through the wormhole and can't understand why. Carter says that they had over-ridden some of the dialling sequences to get a lock with this planet but there shouldn't have been any problems. They find some markings similar to those found on Cimmeria, they could be Asgard. They meet the locals and are introduced to Elrad, Flaman of the 39th Order Of Katal. Elrad says Freyr has sent them visitors from Midgar. Elrad then introduces them to Brother Malcus, the local priest, he tells them to leave. As SG-1 and Elrad talk something starts to happen to the sun and the sky goes red. Malcus comes back and accuses them of doing it.

Sam takes readings as the locals leave to pray for forgiveness. Jack asks Sam if they did this and what is going on, Sam goes to the MALP to see if she can get some better readings while Jack and Daniel go to the church. Daniel asks if they speak with Freyr. Elrad and Malcus stand infront of a device and the 4 of them are transported underground into a hall. A holographic representation of a Viking appears and speaks to them, Malcus and Elrad both take its words to mean that it is near 'ragnorok' (end times). Jack says that they shouldn't just sit back and accept their fate but do something about it. Malcus says they will only do as the Gods say, if they desire the end then so be it.

Jack & Daniel meet back up with Sam & Teal'c. Sam says it seems that their wormhole went straight through the sun and has started to turn it nova, it is their fault and she doesn't know how to fix it. They return to the church and Jack, Daniel & Sam transport down into the underground hall. Sam overrides the switches and they get to talk to the real Freyr. Freyr tells them he can't help but the ultimate decision is not his, Jack gets to meet with the Asgard High Council. The Council tell him that they can't help because it would invalidate the Protected Planet Treaty with ALL planets, including Earth.

Sam comes up with an idea, to bond a superheavy but stable element with the sun and stabilize it. She goes back to the SGC and suggests a rocket, they get permission to start building one on Katal.

Three weeks later a rocket is nearing completion on Katal. Malcus again tells them to leave or they will be forced to leave, Elrad says that is not the way of the Katal and apologises to them. At the SGC the superheavy element arrives, made by a Dr Mcklarum, Sam tells him it will be called McKlarium. Arriving back on Katal Sam sees smoke rising from the rocket, it them explodes. Jack storms into the village and attacks Malcus who admits destroying it. Jack orders all SG personnel off the planet but Daniel says he cares for the people and they can't leave, he and the others persuade Jack to stay. Sam returns to the SGC to see if she can come up with any more plans.

Daniel speaks to the locals, he asks them to come with them and be relocated to a different planet, they refuse to go unless Freyr takes them himself. Jack proceeds to tell them that Freyr is a little grey alien who pretends to be their god. This is to much for the Katal to take, now even Elrad asks them to leave.

At the SGC Sam says that they can send the McKlarium through the gate and shut it off at the correct time so it ends up in the sun, it is unlikely to work but they have to try. They proceed with the operation and then return to Katal to see if it worked. Daniel asks them one more time to consider leaving but they again refuse. As they pray for the end the sky suddenly clears and the sun starts to return to normal. SG-1 discuss if they did it or if the Asgard did.
