SG-1 return to the SGC, Daniel is rushed to the infirmary, he has been exposed to radiation. It seems Daniel came into contact with a device housing unstable radioactive Naquada and received a lethal dose of radiation. No other members of SG-1 were present at the time of the incident and no one knows exactly what happened.

Hammond holds a briefing. It appears SG-1 were on the planet Kelowna. The people there had recently discovered their stargate and Goa'uld artifacts and they are interested in them. When SG-1 arrived they were willing to trade information on their finds for information on the stargate.

SG-1 recall the events on the planet. They meet a man called Jonas Quinn when they arrive, he shows them around the Kelownan facility. The meet a scientist working on a device that utilises a power core found with the Goa'uld artifacts. The substance it uses is called Naquadria, something Sam hasn't heard of before. It appears the Kelownans are making a bomb with the substance.

Hammond says that they need to tread carefully with the Kelownan's if they are making bombs of that power, however Jack says they don't need to worry about that anymore. Hammond asks way, Jack says that while Daniel was trying to convince them not to build the bomb there was an 'incident', Daniel has been charged with sabotaging the bomb. The others don't believe he did anything.

While the SGC sends out teams to try to contact Earth's allies to save Daniel, Sam looks at the information they obtained on Naquadria. She finds it is extremely powerful. Hammond decides that they need to write a letter to the Kelowna government and ask for a continuing agreement between the two peoples, he orders Jack to take it.

Jack goes to Kelowna and sees Jonas, he asks him to tell the truth about Daniel. He tells Jonas they want the Naquadria to help build defences and the Kelownan's can blow themselves to hell with it. Jack storms off.

Sam gets a Goa'uld healing device and tries to use it on Daniel, however she can't control it properly and has to stop as it is making things worse. Daniel suddenly wakes up in the gate room, he walks over towards the gate, a woman is there. She tells him that his fate is in his own hands. He realises the woman is Oma Desala and she tells him that she needs to complete what he started a Kheb.

Jonas arrives at the SGC, he has brought some Naquadria with him. He says he took it from his people after realising that they will do exactly what Daniel said will happen. He proceeds to explain exactly what happened on the day of the incident. It appears the device malfunctioned and let out an immense amount of energy and was overloading. After the lead scientist ran off Daniel risked his life to save the Kelownan people, he is a hero. However his government want to cover it up totally.

Oma Desala tells Daniel that he can never reach enlightenment if he doesn't believe he is worthy. Daniel says that he may have a problem then. Oma reminds Daniel of the great things he has done and that some of the tasks he set himself were impossible to complete, he mustn't keep trying to complete these tasks. Daniel is still doubting and Oma tells him that his friends are telling him of all the good he has done.

Jonas asks the SGC for asylum on Earth as he will now be seen as a traitor by his government, he also asks if any defence technologies Earth comes up with from the Naquadria be shared with his people.Hammond agrees.

Jacob Carter now arrives at the SGC and is told about Daniel. Jacob attempts to use the healing device on him and tells them he may be able to save him but that Daniel will never be his old self again.

Oma tells Daniel that she is leaving and that anyone can reach enlightenment, especially someone who is as open as he is. Daniel tells Oma that he is ready to go with her, he is told to make the others stop healing him.

Daniel contacts Jack and explains about the decision he has made. He tells Jack that everything will be fine and that he has to go now. Jack tells Jacob to stop and that it is what Daniel wants. Jacob stops and Daniel flat lines. Suddenly he turns into a glowing ascended being. Daniel contacts Jack again and tells him that he is going to miss him. Jack says that he will miss Daniel as well.
