Deep down in the Cheyenne Mountain military complex some soldiers play cards in a deserted room, behind them under a tarpaulin is the stargate. The tarpaulin starts to move and suddenly flies off as the stargate starts to dial up, someone is coming through. A female soldier walks up to the gate once a wormhole has been established, something is thrown through that scans her.
Something scans the female soldier.
Behind her a load of soldiers come through the gate, the lead one grabbing her. One of the aliens is wearing a gold uniform, he appears to be their leader, he takes the female soldier and uses a hand device on her, he then orders his men to open fire, they kill the soldiers. As more military arrive, the aliens leave taking the female soldier with them.
A Major Sammuels arrives at Jack O'Neills house, he has retired. Sammuels has orders to bring him to see the CO of the stargate centre, General Hammond. Arriving at the mountain Jack goes too see Hammond who tells him what happened, he asks Jack if he is sure Ra is dead as they were lead by a man whose eyes glowed, just like Ra's. Feretti and Kawalsky are also brought in for questioning, and Hammond and Sammuels question Jack about the first mission to Abydos. Jack assures them that they completed their mission so Hammond says they won't mind if they send another bomb through just to make sure, Jack has to tell Hammond the truth.

After a while Hammond decides to reconsider the plan, Jack asks to take a team to Abydos but Hammond is reluctant so Jack comes up with a plan. He sends a box of tissues through, knowing Daniel has allergies and that if he is there he will know what it means. A while later the box is returned with the message 'Thanks, send more' on it, Hammond agrees to send a team.
In the briefing they are introduced to Captain Samantha Carter. Hammond gives them 24hrs to send a message back or the bomb goes through, he also tells Jack to bring Daniel back.
Arriving on Abydos they meet Daniel, but Jack first goes too meet Skaare. The others all also all introduced to each other. Jack tells Daniel what happened and he tells them that the aliens didn't come from here, but he can help them find out where they did come from. Daniel takes them to another building near the Great Pyramid, it contains a map of the stargate system, it goes to many other worlds.

Back in the Pyramid the gate activates and the aliens come through. They capture Sha're and Skaare, one of the aliens, Teal'c asks Skaare where he got his weapon from as it isn't from his own planet. Skaare is taken before the gold clad alien who tells Teal'c he is a perfect specimen, Sha're is also brought before him, he says that she may be the one. They dial up the gate and leave, a badly injured Feretti manages to see what they are doing.
The aliens leave Abydos.
Daniel and the others arrive back and Jack tells him that he is coming back to Earth with them. Daniel tells the Abydonians to bury the gate for a year and in a year un bury it and await his return, he will hopefully bring Sha're back with him, if he doesn't return they are too bury it forever.
Arriving back on Earth and iris closes over the gate behind them, it is made from titanium and will hopefully protect them from anymore surprises.
On an alien world lots of people are held in a prison, including Sha're and Skaare. Teal'c arrives and takes Sha're away with him. Later he comes to what appears to be a hare em, he takes the female soldier captured on Earth to see his master. The leader says that she could be the vessel for his queen.

A woman comes out from behind some drapes and a snake like creature starts to emerge from a pouch in her belly, it comes part way out then goes back in. The lead alien then kills the female officer and orders another brought in.
Back in Cheyenne mountain they discuss all that has occurred. Daniel speculates that this man who lead the attack is actually another 'god' like Ra as there were many Egyptian gods. Hammond tells them that the President has ordered the formation of 9 SG teams to operate out of the mountain through the gate on reconnaissance and get new information. Jack is assigned leader of SG-1 (on his team will be Sam and Daniel) while Kawalsky is given SG-2. Feretti recovers consciousness in the infirmary and gives them the address the aliens went to from Abydos. Hammond orders SG-1 and 2 to proceed there and gives them remote controls to open the iris, if they are not back in 24hrs the iris will be sealed to them permanently.
Back in the aliens stronghold, Sha're is taken before the leader and the process begins again, but this time the snake creature comes all the way out and moves over Sha're's body before burying itself deep into the back of her neck.
SG 1 and 2 arrive on the alien planet. They set up a defence line of claymores near the gate and head out. SG-1 set up another defensive line while SG-1 head off looking for any inhabitants. Along the way they meet some people who appear to be priests who take them to the town called Chulak.
SG-1 are taken to Chulak.
Arriving in a large banqueting hall SG-1 are treated as guests until their leader, Apophis, turns up. He introduces his new Queen Amonet, it is Sha're. Daniel moves forward but is blasted back by Apophis's hand device, SG-1 end up in prison.

In the prison Jack has found Skaare but they are soon confronted by Teal'c who wants to know where Jack has his watch from as it is not Goa'uld technology. Daniel draws Earths gate symbol in the sand, Teal'c quickly looks at it then rubs it out and moves away. Sometime later warriors arrive and line up infront of the prisoners who are made to kneel. Apophis and Amonet arrive for the ceremony where the Goa'uld choose who will become hosts.

As the Goa'uld choose, Daniel offers himself but they take Skaare instead. The Goa'uld all leave and Apophis orders the remaining prisoners killed. Jack calls out for Teal'c's help, having seen he has been not to happy with what was going on. Teal'c turns against his own men and all the guards are killed. Jack blows a hole in the wall and they all leave, Teal'c goes with them.

A ship arrives over the stargate and transports the Goa'uld down to the surface, the Goa'uld start to depart through the gate.
The Goa'uld prepare to leave.
The ship transforms into a attack ship and attacks SG-1 and the prisoners. Kawalsky destroys it with a surface to air missile. Jack runs to the gate to try to save Skaare but is blasted him back with his hand device and leaves.
Skaare is not who he used to be.
As they prepare to leave the Jaffa guards attack. A major battle ensues as the refugees are evacuated to Earth through the gate. During the battle an infant Goa'uld comes out of a dead Jaffa and into Kawalsky. Everyone gets back to Earth in one piece. Jack asks for Teal'c to be allowed to join SG-1 but is told the decision may not be his too make. Hammond orders a debriefing as everyone celebrates. Jack tells Daniel that they will find Skaare and Sha're. As they leave the embarkation room Kawalsky's eyes glow.
