SG-1 are walking across a moon like surface towards a building. A probe had detected a EM signature on the planet even though it is extinct.
SG-1 go moonwalking.
They find an artifact that is emitting an EM signature and decide that it isn't going to be a massive threat to Earth, so they will take it back with them. After packing it up, un-noticed by the team, a light flashes across its surface.
Back at the SGC they start to examine the artifact. A Lt. Simmons helps out Sam, they have already added two new elements to the periodic table from the artifact. Daniel has found some writing on its surface, he thinks it tells you how to open it. In a briefing Hammond tells them that the NID want the artifact, but he will delay their next mission slightly so they have longer to work on it. The next morning Daniel and Sam are still studying it when Jack comes in, they are shipping out on their next mission. As they go to leave the device starts heating up, they decide to take it back quickly to P5C-353, but as they approach spikes exits the side of the orb.
The orb comes alive.
They rush it to the gate room and as they approach the gate the device suddenly fires the spikes into the ground and walls. One of the spikes goes straight threw Jack's shoulder and pins him to the wall. Teal'c rushes to get his staff weapon, after everyone has left the room he fires it at the orb, but it just absorbs the energy and throws it into Jack.
Teal'c's staff has no effect.
Hammond orders the cutting equipment brought in, but the metal is 100x tougher than steel, it may take some time to cut it, Jack is going to have to wait.
Trying everything to free Jack, but it is vain.
Hammond orders the mountain put under quarantine while they try to free Jack. Sam and Daniel hold a briefing for other staff, they will try and work on the info they gathered on the orb that is stored in the base computers. Frasier goes to see Sam, she has found that a virus/organisms is travelling up the rods into Jack, the organisms are slightly radioactive so they get some UV lights and turn off the lights in the gate room. As the UV lights come on they find the walls covered in the organisms, it is also all over Jack and also Lt. Simmons, it seems they have a serious problem.
Lt Simmons is covered by the organisms.
Dr Frasier is giving Hammond a jab, she needs more of the antibiotics but Hammond tells her she can't bring anything in to the base. Hammond suggests to Sam that they evacuate the fit staff to another world, but Sam says the organisms would just travel with them, they must make their stand here. Hammond agrees.
In the gate room Teal'c talks to Jack, it seems his symbiote protects him from getting whatever it is. Teal'c tries to cheer up Jack by telling a joke. Sgt. Siler is just about threw the rob pinning Jack to the wall when it suddenly moves, it seems it doesn't want to free Jack.
In another room Sam and Daniel are trying to translate the writing on the orb but are getting no where fast. In the infirmary Dr Frasier is treating Lt. Simmons, he wants to see Sam. Sam meanwhile seems to be getting somewhere, the organisms need oxygen and energy to grow. Suddenly the computers start going down, the organisms have got to them.
Sam arrives in the gate room and finds Teal'c using a welding torch on the walls, it seems to be getting rid of the organisms but Sam tells him to stop, they need to lower the oxygen levels in the room. Suddenly the autodestruct activates but they can't stop it as the computers are down, in 3 hrs the organisms will be feed enough energy to spread across the face of the Earth.
Sam goes to the infirmary, Frasier tells her the plan seems to be working. Sam goes to see Simmons, she comforts him and tells him he is doing well. Daniel is taking a break when a symbol that is present on the artifact starts to flash across the computer monitors.
A strange message on the computers.
Daniel thinks the organisms are trying to communicate with them. Sam says that they need to actually feed the organisms what they want and stop Jack's medication, it may be he was in the way for a reason, the organisms may be trying to communicate threw him.
Teal'c arrives with his staff weapon. He fires 3 times at the orb. Jack suddenly starts to speak to them, he is the alien. He tells them the aliens world was dieing, they created this orb to place themselves in. When SG-1 brought them back to Earth the orb detected a new and alive planet and awoke them, when SG-1 tried to return them to P5C-353 they of course couldn't go otherwise they would die. Hammond tells them that they could send them to another world and Daniel comes up with one that is in a primordial state with lots of sunlight and oxygen. Suddenly the power goes down and the computers then reboot. As the gate dials up the rods retract into the orb. Jack picks it up and sends it threw the gate.
Jack prepares to send the orb to its new home.
The second the gate shut down they deactivate the self-destruct. Jack will be fine.
