P3C-629 is a planet located directly in the path of Goa'uld travel to Earth, Sam is briefing the others on a suggested listening post there to detect any Goa'uld ships heading this way. Suddenly the gate dials up and something hits the iris. After taking some readings Sam informs the others that the thing that hit the iris was made of the same material as the box they gave to Kendra in Thor's Hammer, perhaps Thor is sending a reply? They dial up Cimmeria and send a probe through, on the other side there are lots of bodies and then they see Gaerwin, she is saying that the Etens (Goa'uld) have come.
Gaerwin pleads for SG-1's help.
SG-1 discuss with General Hammond the responsibility they have towards the people of Cimmeria, they destroyed Thor's Hammer thus allowing the Goa'uld to attack. Hammond is convinced to let them go.
Arriving on Cimmeria they meet up with Gaerwin who says that Kendra said that SG-1 would come if she sent the box to Earth. Coming under attack from Jaffa they head off into the woods where they manage to loose them. Daniel suggests that they go to see Kendra, Gaerwin takes them to a graveyard, Kendra is dead. On top of Kendra's grave are some of her belongings, including a Ribbon Device and the Healing Device. Sam puts the Ribbon Device on and successfully manages to operate it, as Sam has been joined with a Goa'uld she must have the ability to use Goa'uld technology, Gaerwin tells Sam it took Kendra many years to master the use of the devices, she must be patient and continue to learn.
Sam is amazed when she can use Goa'uld technology.
Gaerwin takes them to her hideout and they meet with some other survivors, including a man called Olaf. Olaf takes Jack and Teal'c away to show them around the Goa'uld encampment while Gaerwin tells Sam and Daniel about a place called 'The Hall Of Thor's Might', by myth this is a place where Thor left stuff to defend them, this of course interests both Sam and Daniel.
Olaf has lead Jack and Teal'c to near the Goa'uld base where they observe Horus Guards, Teal'c works out that the invading Goa'uld must be Heru-ur, son of Ra and Hathor. Suddenly they hear Olaf shouting out, they turn round and see that he has been captured by some Horus. One of the Horus, in a gold uniform, steeps forward, it is Heru-ur, he tells Olaf to kneel before his God, but Olaf refuses. Heru-ur starts to use his Ribbon Device on Olaf when Jack and Teal'c attack rescuing Olaf. Heru-ur activates his personal shield to protect himself from the bullets, they others all escape.
Olaf is brought before Heru-ur.
Back at the camp Daniel tells Jack about the hall, he suggests they should go and check it out. Jack and Teal'c will go and place some charges while Sam, Daniel and Gaerwin go to find the hall. Arriving at an obelisk with a red orb in it, Gaerwin tells them they have arrived, Daniel touches the red orb and they are transported to a hall. A holographic recording of Thor appears telling them that only the worthy may gain access to his might. As they wonder what they are to do the room shakes and the floor collapses, leaving just a narrow beam to the other side.
Daniel, Sam and Gaerwin must face the first task.
Sam goes across and Gaerwin goes next. While going across the beam shakes and Gaerwin falls, grabbing the beam. Daniel says he will go across and save her. While Daniel is trying to save Gaerwin they both fall off, and find themselves back on the solid floor again. Thor's hologram appears and tells them that they have passed the first test, this being to risk ones own life to save anothers, a noble trait.
In the woods Jack and Teal'c are planting some explosive charges. They come under attack and manage to defeat both the first and second wave of Jaffa. Olaf goes to congratulate them and suddenly throws his axe at them, they both duck and it kills the Jaffa coming up behind them. As they hear other Jaffa calling their positions they depart.
Daniel, Sam and Gaerwin are transported to another room, the riddle of the ruins hall. Daniel tries to solve the puzzle but is getting nowhere. The hologram appears again but Daniel cuts it off, he is sure he can solve the riddle. Finally he and Sam manage to work out the riddle is pi, Daniel goes to the circle symbol and marks pi on it, a red orb appears in its place, he touches it and the Thor hologram is replaced by that of an alien resembling a Roswell Grey, it is the real Thor.
The real Thor appears to Daniel, Sam and Gaerwin.
Thor tells them that he is communicating to them from his ship, the Beliskner. They tell him the Goa'uld have attacked, he doesn't believe it, Cimmeria is a save world. Daniel tells him about what happened to the hammer device, they have no way to stop the invading Goa'uld, can he help with his 'might' of weapons? Thor says that there are no weapons, all these tests were to see when the Cimmerians came of age to see the Asgard (Thor's race) as they really are, SG-1 have interfered with everything. Thor disappears and Daniel and Sam find themselves back in the woods, but Gaerwin is not with them.
Arriving back at the camp they find they are surrounded. SG-1 surrender to save everyone else.
SG-1 find themselves surrounded.
As they are being escorted to Heru-ur's base camp thunder clouds roll across the skies, a ship descends threw them, it is an Asgard Mothership. The ship destroys all the Goa'uld on the planet apart from Heru-ur who escapes threw the gate.
Heru-ur escapes.
Gaerwin is transported back to the surface. She tells SG-1 that Thor told her to give them a message. The Asgard are friends and protectors of all, apart from the Goa'uld. They have visited Earth but still consider us too young for contact. They will leave an Asgard teacher on Cimmeria and a new hammer that is friendly to one Jaffa, Teal'c. Cimmeria is again a safe world.
