On an alien world SG-1 watches as some priests and Jaffa send some Naquada threw the stargate. Following them they find a mine over which towers a giant pyramid.
The mine.
Daniel watches as someone leaves the mine and walks into the forest, he follows her as do the others. The person, a woman, stands over the edge of a ravine and starts to fall over the side. Daniel runs up and grabs her and suddenly SG-1 are surrounded by Jaffa.
They are brought to the pyramid. The girl introduces them to her father, Pyrus the Goa'uld slayer and ruler of the planet. Pyrus wants to know why they attacked his daughter. Daniel says that they didn't and that they are explorers. Pyrus doesn't believe them and sends them to work in the mine.
SG-1 are sent to work in the mine.
In the mines Sam says that Pyrus isn't a Goa'uld, she doesn't know why she knows she just does, Teal'c agrees, they also suspect that the Jaffa aren't real Jaffa. That evening SG-1 try to escape but it goes wrong and Daniel is killed.
Pyrus speaks to his daughter, he believes SG-1 are here to raid the mine. After Pyrus has gone the Princess presses a button and a sarcophagus comes out of a wall, inside is Daniel who has been revived.
Daniel is revived in a sarcophagus.
She introduces herself as Shyla, she has taken responsibility for him so he better not try to escape again. Shyla takes Daniel into the forest, she shows him the trees, she thinks they are beautiful, Daniel says they have trees on Earth. He asks about his friend and she tells him that they together can change her father's mind. Shyla tells Daniel that he is her destiny.
Daniel goes to the mines to see his friends, he tells them that he can't let them go but he is working on it, he will speak to Pyrus tonight at a feast. The others aren't to pleased about this, they have hardly eaten anything.
At the feast Daniel speaks to Pyrus. Pyrus tells him about the Goa'uld he slayed and that he is 700 years old, the sarcophagus has kept him alive for that long. Shyla says that they continue to mine the Naquada and send it threw the gate so that the other evil gods will not come to find out why the source has stopped. Daniel is appalled that Pyrus says his people are free yet he works them like the Goa'uld did, Pyrus leaves in a huff and orders the other members of SG-1 to death, luckily Shyla manages to talk him out of it. As they talk, Shyla kisses Daniel, but he is uneasy with it, she suggests another go in the sarcophagus to which Daniel reluctantly agrees.
Daniel goes to the mine, it has been days since the others have seen him and they are angry. Daniel seems dizzy and confused, he has been using the sarcophagus even though he is perfectly well and it seems to be having a strange side effect on him, he is obsessed with it.
Daniel and Shyla talk, she tells him that her father will soon die, the sarcophagus is no longer having an effect on him, soon she will be queen. She tells Daniel that she wants him to stay, together they can change this world.
In the mines Sam has a vision of Jolinar's memories, the sarcophagus isn't used by the Tok'ra as they believe it destroys ones 'soul', they must stop Daniel using it. Jack is taken before him, he is very angry with Daniel but Daniel tells him that he is to marry Shyla and that they will all be returning to the SGC tomorrow.
Jack goes to see Daniel.
The next day SG-1 take their leave, Daniel promises he will be back. Arriving back at the SGC, Sam is telling Daniel that the sarcophagus is like a drug, he must not go back, Daniel gets angry and smashes some of her stuff. Sam goes to see Hammond and tells him Daniel should be put in isolation until he is recovered, suddenly Daniel enters and hands in his resignation, but he collapses. In the infirmary Dr. Frasier says that Daniel is going through some kind of withdrawal, she doesn't know if he will die or get through it, Sam says that they must try to see it out. Daniel is put in isolation and strapped to a bed, he seems to be recovering, his temp. is returning to normal and his cells seem to be regaining control.
Dr Frasier goes to examine Daniel. When she leans over him he grabs her and then beats up a guard. Jack goes into the monitoring room and sees Daniel is gone, he follows him to a storage room. They argue and Daniel pulls a gun on Jack, Jack manages to talk him down though.

Later in a briefing Sam is discussing where they could visit next. Daniel enters a suggests they go back to Shyla's planet, they can free countless people from slavery and also hopefully strike a deal for some Naquada. Hammond agrees.
Arriving in the pyramid, Shyla tells Daniel that Pyrus is dead. She apologises for what she did to him, but Daniel tells her she can still be a strong leader for her people and not turn into what he father was. She must start by freeing herself and destroy the sarcophagus, she does so.
Shyla destroys the sarcophagus.
