THE PLOT

SG-1 watch a MALP transmission from Abydos, Kasuf is waiting for them as it is one Abydos year to the day that Daniel left. He must go back to Abydos and tell Kasuf what has happened to Sha're. Daniel gets a go for the mission with Teal'c, Jack and Sam won't be coming as they have an official appointment with the President.

Arriving on Abydos, Daniel meets Kasuf and tells him what has happened. Kasuf takes them to his tent, Sha're is there and she is pregnant.

Kasuf takes Daniel to Sha're.

Daniel is angry at Sha're and storms out when he finds out that the father is Apophis and he wants to use the child as his new host.

At the White House, Jack and Sam arrive at their gathering. There they meet Sam's dad, Jacob Carter, much to her shock.

Hammond with Jacob Carter.

Back on Abydos Teal'c tells Sha're that Daniel still loves her. Sha're recognises Teal'c, she has a knowledge of what her sleeping symbiote knows. Teal'c goes to see Daniel, he tells her that they must take Sha're back to Earth to be questioned on her Goa'uld knowledge, after a long discussion Daniel agrees.

On Earth, Sam's father wants her to join NASA so she can live her dream and go into space, he also doesn't believe her and Jack's cover story on deep space radio transmissions study. In a nearby bar Jack is having a drink when he is approached by a press man, Armann. Armann knows about the stargate project and has Sam and Jack on tape discussing it. Jack goes to see Hammond and tells him about the leak.

Armann approaches Jack.

On Abydos Sha're, Daniel and Teal'c enter the pyramid where the gate is when suddenly a Goa'uld ship lands. Amonet reappears and when she disappears Sha're goes into labour, they all rush out just before some Horus and Heru-ur transport in.

Heru-ur arrives to spoil the best laid plans.

Daniel and Sha're hide in a cave while she starts to give birth and Teal'c tries to keep the Horus away.

Outside the White House Armann and Jack meet. Armann tells Jack what he knows, it is an awful lot. Jack tells him he would be stupid to publish it but if he does to make sure he spells O'Neill correctly. As Armann goes he is run over by a car driven by a Airforce official.

Armann won't be publishing anything now.

/in Kasuf's tent, a Horus Guard is torturing him for information on Sha're's whereabouts when Teal'c enters. Teal'c zats the Horus. On Earth Jacob tells Sam that he is dieing from cancer, she is shocked and again he pushes for her to join NASA. They part on strained terms.

In the cave, Sha're gives birth and Amonet returns and demands the baby from Daniel. A Horus then enters and zats Sha're, first telling her that Heru-ur has taken the child in his name. The Guard's headgear retracts, it is Teal'c. They go to Kasuf with the child and tell him to hide it.

Kasuf is told to hide the child.

At the SGC, Hammond presents Jack and Sam with their medals as the ceremony was cancelled due to Armann's death, Jack and Sam then gear up to go to Abydos. Daniel and Teal'c meanwhile enter the Pyramid and Daniel tells Heru-ur that they should form an alliance against Apophis. Heru-ur tells them that the Tau'ri will worship him as God, no alliance will ever be made. The gate starts dialling and Heru-ur orders his troops into position to ambush Apophis, as the kawoosh opens Teal'c pushes one of guards into it and SG-1 arrive and take out the others. As Jack attacks Heru-ur, he raises his personal shield and deflects the bullets. Jack takes out his knife and throws it threw the shield into Heru-ur's hand and ribbon device. Heru-ur transports away.

Heru-ur gets the point.

The gate again dials up and SG-1 take cover, this time it is Apophis. Amonet then arrives and tells him that Heru-ur has stolen his child. As they leave Amonet sees SG-1 but doesn't give them away.

Amonet doesn't give away SG-1.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

Daniel returns to Abydos one year to the day since he left without Shau're but instead finds her there. He then has to go through the pain of loosing her again and finding out she is pregnant with Apophis's child.

Amonet/Sha're. Amonet sleeps as Sha're is pregnant, so Sha're returned home to Abydos during her labour period, but didn't tell Kasuf, her father, what had happened to her. After giving birth Amonet thinks the child has been taken by Heru-ur. It seems Sha're may have some control over Amonet as when she saw SG-1 in the pyramid she didn't give them away.

Apophis has fathered a human child with Amonet, which he plans to use as his new host.

Sam is reunited with her father but doesn't seem massively pleased. She also finds out he has cancer and is dieing.

    OVERALL THOUGHTS

This episode is excellent, one of the best produced, it has everything. Great SFX (the Pyramid ship landing and the Horus head gear retracting 'movie' style), great character work, two Goa'uld in Heru-ur and Apophis and a great plot. What more could you want!
There are two very touching scenes in this episode, the first when Sha're tells Daniel she is pregnant and what it all is, the second where Jacob tells Sam he is ill, both scenes are wonderfully acted with wonderful music. The rest of the episode is also very well directed with good music and acting.
