SG-1 examine a new material called Trinium, discovered by Captain Conner and SG-11 on PXY-887. Trinium is 100x lighter than steel but much stronger.
Sam examines the raw trinium.
SG-11 have been on PXY-887 looking at mining the material but are 48 hours overdue, SG-1 are to go and get them. Just then the gate dials up and an SG-11 iris code is received but when the iris is opened a dart comes through and straight into O'Neill's arm.
With Jack laid up, Sam gets command of SG-1 for the mission, she is to go and retrieve SG-11 and also bargain for a mining treaty with the locals. Arriving on PXY-887 they explore the camp and find that everything has just been left as if SG-11 were in the middle of their work when they just disappeared. Teal'c thinks he hears something outside and they go to take a look but see nothing.
Teal'c thinks he hears something.
Taking a look around outside they find a totem pole made of trinium. It seems from the depictions on the pole that the locals are Salish Indians brought to this planet from Earth by the Goa'uld, the Goa'uld were then driven from the planet by Xals, a Salish spirit. Just then SG-1 are knocked unconscious by darts.
Waking up they find themselves at a Salish camp and are introduced to Tonani.
SG-1 meet Tonani.
Sam tells Tonani that they are looking for SG-11, Tonani tells him that they are with the spirits but he will introduce SG-1 to Xals who will most likely know where SG-11 are.
In the forest they meet T'akaya in the form of a wolf, and Xals, in the form of a raven. Tonani tells them to speak to the spirits, Sam is very reluctant but Daniel is a little more easy and takes the lead. Xals thinks about it for a while and in the end SG-11 are released.
SG-11 are released.
Sam then has a meeting with the village elders about mining the Trinium but they refuse saying that our ways are too destructive to both themselves and their spirits. Sam says that they have other methods of extracting the ore and Tonani agrees to return to the SGC to see them.
At the SGC Tonani watches a video but finds the other ways just as destructive. While Daniel shows Tonani information on his ancestors, Hammond tells the others that they will get the Trinium from behind the Salish peoples backs if needed. Jack is angry and walks out as do the others. Connor then goes to see Hammond, he waves his arms and Hammond disappears, Connor then returns to the others of SG-11 and tells them the humans plan to go behind Tonani and his people's backs, they must be stopped.
Hammond gets zapped.
As SG-11 go around the base zapping people Jack sees them and sets off the alarm. Daniel and Tonani hide in a storage room while Jack finds Sam and Teal'c in the armoury. They head to the medical bay and find Dr Warner but they know it isn't him. Warner tells them that he is one of Tonani's guardian spirits, as he goes to zap them, Teal'c zats him. When he collapses he changes shape, the spirits are really shape shifting aliens.
One of the 'spirits'.
Daniel and Tonani get to Jack who shows them Xals. He asks Tonani why they would be attacking them and is told that they must have been caught doing something that would be harmful to the Salish and that there will be no way to stop the power of the spirits. It is decided that Daniel and Teal'c will return to PXY-887 to speak to the Salish elders while Jack and Sam try to convince Tonani and the spirits they mean no harm. Getting to the gate room Daniel and Teal'c find T'akaya there. Teal'c is zapped but Daniel convinces the spirits to listen to him, he takes them to Xals and they heal him.
Daniel and Jack talk to Xals and T'akaya and convince them that they are trustworthy.
Daniel talks to T'akaya and Xals.
The 'spirits' have to charges against them, one that they could return to PXY-887 anytime and try to get the Trinium, so it is suggested that they bury their stargate so no one can come. The second charge is of revealing their true identity to the Salish, they now fear the Salish will grow scared of them and in the end a war will occur. Jack and Daniel tell them that the Salish trust them and are good people that will not happen and they urge them to talk to Tonani. Tonani tells them that the Salish are happy to co-exist with them whatever form they wish to take, with that they all leave, returning the zapped members of the SGC before they go.
