In a quaint village on P5S-381, a meal is being held to celebrate the transportation of the Enkarens to their new world and for the help of SG-1 and the SGC. The village leader, Hedrozar, says that they are extremely grateful and that when her first grandson is born it will be named Jack after Col. O'Neill. Suddenly another villager, Kaleb arrives in a panic, he tells them that something has destroyed their village and is coming this way. They go to take a look and see a giant ship approaching, scorching the earth behind it.
The ship approaches.
At the SGC, SG-1 discuss the situation with General Hammond. The ship is 2 miles in diameter and is expelling a flammable gaseous substance that destroys the land behind it, in 26 hours it will be at the village. Hammond is told that Teal'c is still on the planet helping to prepare the Enkarens to evacuate, but they will never get them all out in time. The Enkarens have a different physiology that is badly affected by radiation, even a small time on Earth while they try to find them a new world will kill them. Another suitable world would be the original Enkaren home world, the Enkarens fled from their generations ago after the Goa'uld took them in ships, the only problem is that this world has no gate and even the Enkarens don't know where it is. Hammond says that a number of other teams will start looking for another planet while SG-1 returns to P5S-381 to help evacuate the populace.
Arriving back on P5S-381 they find that the Enkarens will not leave, they would prefer to die here than slowly on Earth. Daniel tells them that they will try to communicate with the ship hoping that whoever runs it is a kind race. While they set up a transmitter SG-1 are transported to the ship.
SG-1 find themselves on the Gadmere ship.
Inside the ship they meet Lotan, an android created in the image of the Enkarens the ship scanned, he is their to communicate with them. He tells them the ships builders, the Gadmere, were a peaceful and technologically advanced race who were defeated by a military power in their area of space, they have come to this planet to reinvent their civilisation far away from their enemies. The ship is terraforming the planet to support their life, sulphur based, not carbon. Lotan tells SG-1 that when the process was started no intelligent lifeforms were on the planet, the ship has only enough raw materials to do one planet, now it has started it can't stop.
Lotan tells SG-1 of the Gadmere.
Back at the SGC, Hammond and SG-1 discuss the situation. Jack is all for blowing the ship up to save the Enkarens, they have after all but a lot of time and effort into finding them a suitable planet. Daniel on the other hand says it isn't right to stop the Gadmere ship. Hammond will not authorize a military strike.
Jack is all for the military approach.
On P5S-381 the Enkarens are desperate. Jack decides to go over Hammond's head and use the Naquada reactor they gave the Enkarens to blow up the ship, he orders Sam to make it into a bomb. Placing the bomb in the path of the ship, Sam tells Jack that once he starts the countdown there is no turning back.
Jack and Sam place the bomb.
At the village Daniel decides to go and see Lotan, he must try and convince him to stop the ship or find an alternative. On the ship Daniel tries to appeal to Lotan's 'Enkaren' side, he is after all made in their image. He persuades him to come and visit the surface and the people the ship will kill. Daniel and Lotan go to the village where he sees the Enkarens and talks to them, he still insists that nothing can be done, they will die if they don't leave. He transports himself, and at request, Daniel back to the ship.
Daniel introduces Lotan.
On the ship, Lotan tells Daniel that a device has been detected, it is the Naquada bomb. Daniel tells him he doesn't agree with what JAck is doing but he doesn't want to see the Enkarens killed either. On the surface Jack makes the difficult decision to detonate the bomb, even though Daniel is aboard the ship, as Teal'c points out, Daniel made his choice. On the ship Daniel tells Lotan that if the Gadmere were indeed peace loving and lawful beings they wouldn't be pleased to find that their new world was created by mass murder. Lotan agrees and stops the ship, they still need to resolve the situation though. Lotan transports the Naquada reactor to the ship and ejects it into the sky where up blows up harmlessly.
The bomb explodes harmlessly.
The ship didn't find any other worlds out of the millions it scanned that were suitable. Daniel asks him if any of them would be suitable for the Enkarens, Lotan searches and finds one that would be suitable, it also has intelligent life on it, Enkaren life, it is the original homeworld.
Returning to the surface Lotan and Daniel tell the Enkarens the news, they are delighted and agree to give up this world to return home. Lotan tells them he will take them there in the ship and then it will return to complete its task here. The Enkarens ask Lotan to stay with them, he is after all an Enkaren, he agrees.
