THE PLOT

A Russian submarine glides its way through the Pacific Ocean. Something enters one of its torpedo tubes and two Russian sailors discharge the water from it. When they have done this they hear something rattling around inside and open the hatch. They find a Replicator inside and it jumps out and kills one of the crew.

A Replicator attacks a Russian crewman.

At the SGC Dr Frasier is examining Daniel's appendix wound, they discuss that it has taken a week to get the beta gate hooked up and running properly. An off-world activation occurs, it is SG-1 arriving back from P4X-234. Jack tells them that Thor was rescued by the Asgard shortly after they arrived on the planet. General Hammond tells them to shower and change before de-briefing.

A while later Sam is examining some of the pieces of Replicator found at the wreckage of the Beliskner. Jack enters and says he is finally going to get that fishing trip he was after and leaves. Sam gets a call and has to go and catch Jack up, Major Davies is on his way from the Pentagon. In the briefing room Davies tells them that they have found a Russian sub drifting with all crew dead after they received a distress call saying they were under attack from a large metallic spider. The Pentagon he informs them want to get hold of some complete Replicators and Jack can't believe it, even the Asgard can't control them, he says the best bet is to blow the sub up, Major Davies agrees, that is why he is here. They decide to send in a team with the only thing they know stops the replicators, good old fashion guns.

Another off-world activation occurs and they can't shut the iris, all the base power goes offline and Thor comes threw the gate.

Thor at the SGC.

They tell him that one of the Replicators survived the Beliskner crash and they need his help to stop them. Thor tells then he can offer no assistance, in fact he has come here for their help. Thor informs them that his homeworld is soon to be attacked by the Replicators and all Asgard vessels are engaged in fighting them, he needs their 'unconventional' ideas to stop them. Sam agrees to go with Thor while the others stay on Earth.

Sam arrives at Thor's homeworld and sees a massive new Asgard ship. Thor tells her it is the 'O'Neill', the last hope the Asgard have to defeat the Replicators as it was built to do specifically that, unfortunately it is not fully finished and the Replicators are already on their way. Sam and Thor take another ship to rendezvous with 5 other Asgard vessels engaged in a fight with 3 Replicator controlled ships. Thor tells Sam that her ideas could be the only way to save them all.

Sam observes the Asgard vessel, the 'O'Neill'.

At a US naval base Jack, Teal'c and two other men Stevens and Baker head out to the docked Russian sub where the Replicators are holed up.

The sub docked in the US Naval Yard.

O'Neill and Baker form one team and Teal'c and Stevens the other. They start to work their way threw the sub. O'Neill and Baker find some Replicators first and notice they are a different colour. Teal'c and Stevens meanwhile find a room containing a 'Queen' Replicator, as they go to examine it closer they are attacked and Stevens is killed, the others make it out of the sub just in time.

On Thor's ship Sam is getting told about the Replicators and how they work. She is told they are Kieron based life forms, but she has no idea what that is, she is at a loss at how to help. They receive a communication informing them that they have lost contact with the 5 Asgard ships battling the Replicators, they have been destroyed. They are now the only thing standing between the Replicators and the Asgard planet.

Back on Earth Jack and Davies both agree that the best option is now to blow the sub apart. Dr Frasier meanwhile removes a piece of Replicator from Teal'c's wound. Daniel notices that the piece is corroding and made of metal, he realises that the Replicators are making themselves out of the available material on the Russian sub, therefore they can be defeated as they are only made out of easily destroyable Earth material. The only problem now is that the Queen Replicator is actually the original one that won't be destroyed by the destruction of the sub, someone will have to go back in a destroy her first. Jack and Teal'c volunteer. As the Replicators are attracted to energy outputs Jack will explode a small charge on the sub to draw them away from the Queen. Suddenly the diesel engines on the sub start up, the Replicators are trying to move it, Jack and Teal'c hurry away before the sub can dive.

On Thor's ship Sam is asking why the Replicators don't take the Asgard ships into Hyperspace, Thor tells her it is because they need the massive amounts of energy needed to do that to help replicate. Sam finally starts to form an idea. She finds out the Asgard built the 'O'Neill' out of a new alloy, the Replicators would want to get hold of that as it is more advanced technology. She suggests to Thor that they launch the unfinished 'O'Neill' on auto pilot and send it into Hyperspace, the Replicators would then follow and as shields don't work when travelling at that velocity they could self-destruct the 'O'Neill' taking the other ships with it. Thor disagrees with the plan as the 'O'Neill' is their last hope, they can't possibly destroy it and maybe even let it fall into the Replicators hands if they manage to catch it and disable the self-destruct. Sam manages in the end to persuade him that this plan is their last hope.

Sam discusses her plan with Thor.

On the sub Jack sets the charge and he and Teal'c heads toward the battery room where the Queen is. Jack detonates the charge and many of the Replicators go towards the energy discharge leaving the Queen relatively unguarded. Jack and Teal'c succeed in destroying her but when they try to leave they find the Replicators have trapped them. The Replicators then start to attack them.

The 'O'Neill' is launched and as predicted the Replicators follow it into Hyperspace. The ship self-destructs and takes the Replicator ships with it, the plan has succeeded.

The energy wave from the destruction of the
Asgard vessels in Hyperspace hits Thor's ship.

Back on the sub Jack and Teal'c are being overwhelmed. Jack tells Davies to destroy the sub as the mission is complete, Daniel reluctantly agrees and Davies orders the sub destroyed. A US sub fires torpedoes on the Russian vessel and destroys it, but luckily for Jack and Teal'c they are beamed out just in time by Thor.

Thor, whose ship has arrived back in Earth orbit, tells them that the Asgard are in their debt and will one day join in the war against the Gou'ld, unfortunately for the time being this was only a small victory and the Replicators are still rife across the Asgard galaxy. Jack starts to ask Thor if he wants to go fishing with him but Thor transports them off his ship and heads off back to Asgard space.
