THE PLOT

As Jack returns from some vacation an off-world wormhole activation occurs. He arrives in the control room and finds Sam trying to work out how to correctly tune into a radio signal being sent through the wormhole, of which this is the fifth in the last 90 minutes. They manage to tune into the signal and find out that a race called the Eurondans are trying to contact them, they say they are our kindred and need our help. The technician checks the computer and finds three impact invents recorded on the iris, thus three Eurondans must be dead.

In a briefing they discuss how they may help the Eurondans with food and medicine. Another wormhole activates and this time two way communication is established. They speak to Alar the Eurondan leader who says he will prove they are friends and of the same kin by coming threw the gate, Hammond tells him he must not because of the iris and that the three volunteers he sent threw are dead. Suddenly the computers show a visual image of Alar and he is indeed human, he tells them some more about what they need help for and as his base comes under attack again he sends the co-ordinates to Euronda and disengages the wormhole.

Alar makes visual contact with the SGC.

General Hammond agrees to help the Eurondans with more or less anything they need except manpower, he tells Jack this could be a great time to gain some advanced technology and he authorises him to trade with the Eurondans. Arriving on Euronda they find Alar injured by the gate. SG-1 are taken to the briefing room and talk. Alar sees Teal'c and asks why he is not of the same kin as the other SG-1 members. Alar then shows SG-1 what they have come to save, a massive stasis chamber containing 1000's of Eurondans, this is why they couldn't possibly evacuate threw the gate, these people can't be revived until the war is over, a war that will not end.

SG-1 are shown the stasis chamber.

Next SG-1 are taken to the Eurondan control room where they conduct all their national defence against enemy air units, when asked why the enemy doesn't attack via the ground the Eurondans tell them that the air is poisoned. An enemy unmanned recon drone approaches and Alar offers Jack the chance to test their aero fighters as he is sure that Earth will want something in return for offering help. Jack successfully uses the neural interface that controls the fighters and shoots down the enemy plane.

Jack steps into a Eurondan Neural Interface unit.

SG-1 and the Eurondans celebrate their new alliance. Over a toast they discuss trade, the Eurondans want heavy water to power their controlled fusion reactors and will offer us what ever we want in exchange. Daniel wants to know why the Eurondans want the heavy water, Alar tells him it will be used to strengthen their defence shield and in due course strike back at the enemy, Daniel isn't pleased and Jack tells him to stop questioning the Eurondans but before anymore questions or answers can come the base comes under attack again. After Alar and his colleagues have gone Jack and Daniel argue over the situation, Jack orders Sam to take Daniel back to the SGC and bring back the Heavy Water.

Jack and Daniel argue the moral issues involved.

On Earth Sam and Daniel discuss the situation with General Hammond, he also wants to know why the Eurondans want heavy water but is satisfied with Sam's answer and orders the trade to go ahead. Daniel starts to argue the moral issues more and Hammond listens to him. Back on Euronda Jack and Teal'c help fight the enemy bombers. Sam and Daniel arrive back with some heavy water and the Eurondans add it to their defence shield and bring it to full power. Daniel who has obviously been told by General Hammond to ask some more questions tries to, but Alar tells him it will have to wait until the attack is over. As Jack and Teal'c continue to fight, one of Jack's aero fighters crashes into an enemy bomber, he sees a man inside and is angry the Eurondans didn't tell him those planes were manned, but the Eurondans are pleased that some of their enemies are dead thanks to Jack.

In another meeting Alar tells then that they can have all they want for as much heavy water as they need to end the war. Daniel starts to ask more questions but after the first one Alar starts to get angry and so does Jack who orders Daniel to shut up. As Jack is leaving to tell Hammond the good news Alar tells him not to bring Teal'c back as he isn't like the rest of them or the Eurondans. Jack isn't to pleased and tells Daniel to start asking lots of questions, he and Teal'c will also look around. Alar shows Sam the plans of their fusion reactor, Sam is puzzled at how long ago the facility was built, it was before the war started, she is also puzzled at some pipes leading from the reactor to the planet surface. Daniel meanwhile asks Alar's second in command, Farrell some questions, he finds out from her that the enemy are sometimes called the 'Breeders', the Eurondans are at war with them because they come in all shapes, sizes and colours, the Eurondans are waging a war of racial cleansing. Jack and Teal'c examine the stasis room and find that all the Eurondans their are the same.

Jack examines the Eurondans stasis records.

The enemy start to attack again and Alar is displeased Jack has no more heavy water. As Jack and Teal'c help in the aero fighters again, Sam works out that the enemy made a preemptive strike against the Eurondans as they were trying to poison the atmosphere and wipe them out. Daniel tells Alar they will not be getting anymore water and Jack and Teal'c start to attack the Eurondan fighters. Jack crashes his plane into the ground above the Eurondan base and they make their way back to the gate room, Alar looks at the defence shield, it is being destroyed.

Alar watches the destruction of his defence shield.

As they make their escape Eurondan guards attack SG-1 but are beaten back. Alar arrives and begs them to take him with them, Jack looks at him and steps threw the gate.

Alar begs to go with SG-1.

Arriving back in the SGC Jack orders the iris closed, a few seconds later an impact is registered on it. General Hammond is disappointed they obtained no new technologies, Jack tells him not to be.
