The SGC have received a vague message from the Tok'ra. The gate dials up and the Tok'ra GDO signal is received, two Tok'ra arrive, a man called Marnan and a woman called Anise. Anise has brought with her some armband devices found on the world of a long dead civilisation called the Atoneiks. The armbands supposedly give the wearer great strength and speed as well as enhancing other natural abilities, unfortunately they will not work on the Tok'ra, most likely because of the symbiote. Anise has brought them to Earth because she hopes SG-1 will agree to take part in her experiment to test the armbands on humans.

In the infirmary, Jack, Dr Frasier and Anise start the experiment. Anise places a Tok'ra bio-monitor on Jack's chest so she may keep tabs on his vital signs, then she places the armband on him, it attaches properly.

A while later Teal'c and Jack are boxing. Jack suddenly dodges Teal'c with great speed then smacks him in the face, knocking him out. In the infirmary Anise tests Jack's strength using a ball like device which he has to squeeze, it is 5x above that of a normal human, the rest of his physiology is normal but he is eating a lot more as his increased metabolism is causing him to burn more energy. Anise expands the experiment by including Daniel and Sam in it.

In Daniel's room Jack reads one of his books in a matter of seconds. Sam meanwhile is working in the pitch dark and when Dr Frasier turns the lights on she realises she didn't know it, she can see as well in the dark as with lights. Anise continues to monitor Jack, he cycles at over 100kph without even breaking sweat, he again squeezes Anise's strength ball and breaks it. Anise goes to see Daniel and finds he has found no reference to the Atoneiks in Earth's history, she gives him her notebook on the culture and Daniel reads it in a matter of seconds. A light on the armband suddenly goes green, Anise speculates that the armbands have now reached their full potential.

Dr Frasier tells Sam she doesn't trust Anise.

In the infirmary Dr Frasier tells Anise she is worried as Daniel, Jack and Sam have high body temperatures, identical to a virus being in their system, Anise tells her a virus is in their systems, that is how the armbands work and interface with the user. Frasier suggests the armbands be removed and Hammond agrees, but when they come to remove them the devices will not budge. In his office Hammond, Anise and Frasier discuss the armbands and how to remove them, Anise suggests they may as well continue with the experiment while the devices are attached.

Teal'c goes to see Jack and tells him that SG-1 will not be allowed to resume duties while the experiment continues, Jack then goes to see Hammond and tells him that SG-1 are more than ready to go kick some Goa'uld butt, Hammond refuses SG-1 any mission goes.

Daniel, Jack and Sam are getting hungry and sneak out of the base to a local restaurant and bar called O'Malleys where they order massive meals. After the meals Sam beats a guy at pool, the guy then insults Daniel and they get into a fight which of course they win.

Daniel doesn't like being called a geek.

Back at the SGC, Dr Frasier tells Hammond that the results show Daniel, Jack and Sam are nearing multiple organ failure as their bodies were not made to cope with such stress, if the armbands are not removed soon they will die. Daniel, Jack and Sam are escorted into the briefing room where Hammond is not pleased with their actions at all. Anise arrives and tells them that the High Council of the Tok'ra has sent a message saying SG-1 should field test the units, Apophis is building a new battleship that will allow him to conquer the Galaxy if it isn't destroyed, the Tok'ra failed in their last attempt and suggest SG-1 try with their super powers. Hammond is furious as it is obvious the Tok'ra have manipulated the situation and says the mission will not go ahead.

In a room Daniel, Jack and Sam look at the plans of the battleship that Anise downloaded into the base's computers, they devise a plan to destroy it.

Hammond meanwhile looks over the plans with Teal'c who tells him the ship must be destroyed and offers to do it himself, Hammond refuses as it would obviously be a suicide mission.

Daniel, Jack and Sam meanwhile knock out everyone in the gate room and dial up the planet the ship is being built on, they zip through the gate and come out the other side knocking the Jaffa guards out before they know what has hit them.

Arriving at the mountain facility they knock out the guards. While Daniel goes to collect some weapons grade Naquada, Jack and Sam plant the explosives at the base of the coolant tank. They meet up again but Daniel suddenly collapses and his armband drops off.

At the SGC, Anise and Frasier tell Hammond that the armbands will drop off the users as the bodies of the wearers have started to create an antibody to fight the virus the armbands use to work, this is obviously how the Atoneiks became extinct, they ran out of warriors who could use the devices and were beaten by another civilisation, they realise that this is going to mean Daniel, Jack and Sam are stuck in the middle of a well guarded Goa'uld base with no super powers or weapons.

Inside the base Daniel, Jack and Sam are caught but just before they are killed Teal'c arrives and zats the guards. Teal'c takes Daniel to the exit while Jack and Sam keep some guards busy. An alarm sounds and the force shields around the base are activated, Jack and Sam suddenly hit one and their armbands drop off as they collapse, Teal'c also finds one has activated at the entrance to the base, Teal'c refuses to leave Jack and Sam in the base to die. As the C4 blows the force shields drop, Jack and Sam escape. They head back to the gate site and Teal'c dials home as the mountain explodes taking the ship with it.

At the SGC, General Hammond tells Daniel, Jack and Sam there will be no court martial as they were under the influence of alien technology, they apologise for defying orders, except Teal'c who Hammond had sent to look after the others in case they got into trouble. Freya (Anise's host) tells Jack that both she and Anise look forward to working with them again in the future.
