The episode starts with flashbacks to Point Of No Return.
A ship comes to life in outer space and heads off. At the SGC Sam tells them that they have detected a ship approaching Earth, it will be here in 3 days. The ship is emitting an energy signature which is identical to those emitted by the pod they found a year before that belonged to Martin. They need to track him down.
On a TV set that very much resembles an alien world with a stargate, a SG look-a-like team are being filmed. Martin is present and watching the events. At the SGC they watch an advert for a new show called Wormhole X-treme, it is a TV show about the SGC and its operations, of which Martin pitched the idea for. They want to know exactly what Martin is doing and so Jack has been drafted onto the show as its 'military advisor'.
Arriving on the set Jack goes to see Martin but he doesn't recognise him at all, it seems he has again had his memory erased. In a warehouse Tanner and his men are preparing for the ship to arrive, unfortunately there is something that could complicate matters, O'Neill.
At the SGC, Dr Frasier reports that the tests on some of Martin's vitamins show he has indeed again had his memory erased. Hammond gives Sam and Daniel the go ahead to watch Martin's place. Doing some research into who works on the show they find one of the assistants is called 'Steve Austin' and they decide to follow him. The man goes into his flat and a minute later Sam and Daniel follow him in but he has completely disappeared, he did however make a very quick phone call to a warehouse.
Jack decides to confront Martin and jog his memory about the past, however Martin thinks he is trying to pitch a new show.
Sam and Daniel storm the warehouse with some troops, inside they find the NID, they have been set up.
On the set Martin has been paged to a studio, it is deserted. Jack arrives but both men are soon captured by Tanner. They inject Martin with something and leave. Martin soon starts to remember the truth and Teal'c arrives to free them. It seems Martin tried to wipe his own memory after seeing what had happened to his planet. He tells them Tanner is after a device to control the ship which he has, it is being used as a prop on the show. They retrieve the device and Tanner catches up with them again. Jack gets a call from Sam to say the NID are coming. The ship starts to descend and as the NID approach Tanner pleads for the device as the NID will never let them be. Jack gives it too him and they leave. Martin however stays, it seems he has found a new career in television!
