A Russian army truck comes down a road to a blockade. They are told to take a different route but as they prepare to leave they are ambushed and killed. Inside the truck is a Jaffa.

Sam comes out of a gym and heads towards her car. She is attacked and kidnapped by masked men who come out of a white van. A homeless man witnesses it all.

At the SGC two days later they know Sam is missing but Hammond tells them they have no jurisdiction outside of the SGC. They have found Sam's car near the gym and Jack heads down there. Questioning the homeless man he finds out Sam was attacked by 'ninjas' Back at the base Jack gets Daniel to post a message on a forum he thinks the NID use, hoping to get Maybourne's attention.

Sam wakes up and two Doctor's tell her she is in a hospital. They run some blood tests and find out she has a protein marker and unidentifiable heavy metal in it.

Maybourne catches up with Jack and tells him he knows nothing about Carter's disappearance, however he suggests Jack tries the NID, in particular user 4574. Jack goes to see Simmons at the Pentagon, Simmons tells him that he should be looking more carefully at the person he got his information off, especially as he has recently received $3 million. At the SGC they find out Maybourne was paid by the millionaire owner of Z-Etronics, one Adrian Conrad.

That evening at the Z-Etronics head offices Maybourne sees Conrads secretary, Diana Mendez. He asks about Carter's disappearance and says he believes she knows about it, she denies any knowledge and says Adrian wouldn't do anything like that. As Maybourne goes back to his car in the parking lot Jack jumps him. In the his van Maybourne tells Jack everything that is going on, Conrad paid Maybourne to get a symbiote from the Russians. They go to the Doctor's office where the symbiote was dropped off and access Conrad's medical file.

At the SGC Dr Frasier is going over Conrad's file, he has an incurable illness and therefore a symbiote may seem like a good idea to him to cure it, and so would Major Carter. Frasier says Conrad would have to have a hospital somewhere and Daniel says that Conrad's company own a now disused hospital called Saint Christinas.

At the hospital Carter manages to escape her cell but isn't able to get far before she is cornered. She is introduced to Adrian Conrad who tells her he is dieing and needs to be implanted with a Goa'uld, she holds the key to its safe removal. Later in their own lab Conrad has deteriorated further and needs to be implanted immediately. After they implantation his vital signs stabilise. The Doctor's tell Mendez that if they are to remove the symbiote they will have to directly examine Sam's brain tissue, Mendez gives them to okay to do so.

Outside Jack arrives with a SWAT team, Maybourne, Daniel and Teal'c. They enter the hospital and start to look for Sam. In the lab Conrad tricks Diana into releasing him, he then kills her and escapes. As the Doctor's prepare to operate on Sam Jack and Maybourne burst in and free her. Going after Conrad Jack ends up in the lower levels of the hospital. He manages to find Conrad and confronts him but is shot in the back. Simmons steps out from the shadows and takes the Goa'uld with him. Daniel goes to the room they found Sam in, Maybourne has gone.

In a safe house Simmons has the Goa'uld locked in a cell, he tells him he can make his life easier in exchange for information on the Goa'uld.

At the SGC Jack is furious, he believes Maybourne shot him in the back
