A man is on the phone asking why whoever he is speaking too can't see what he can see. As he speaks to them a couple of black vans turn up with Airforce personnel in them. At the SGC Sam is briefing Hammond and SG-1 on an asteroid that is headed directly towards Earth, it will hit somewhere within the Arctic Circle. Sam tells them that it is coming from a rogue angle and we were very lucky to even see it. Hopefully we will get some help from our allies otherwise all life on Earth will be wiped out.
Jack goes to contact the Asgard. The Asgard tell him that they can't help out as it is a natural disaster, if however they can get proof from the Tollans that the Goa'uld deliberately tried to get them to attack Earth they could lend a hand. Back at the SGC they decide to use the crashed cargo ship on Rivana to fly to the asteroid and nuke it. Hammond tells Jack that Major Davies will be coming to the SGC to help evacuate top brass to the Alpha Site.
They arrive on Rivana with an engineering team and work tirelessly to repair the cargo ship. They can't find a recall device (see Tangent) anywhere on-board so attempt an engine restart. At the 2nd attempt the engines come online and they head off towards the asteroid.
Ten days later the SGC receive a message, SG-1 have arrived at the asteroid, they have 3 1/2 hours to do their work before the asteroid gets to close to Earth. As they approach the asteroid the ship starts shaking, they are having trouble with the sublight engines. At they SGC they loose SG-1's signal. The sublight engines shut down totally and they fly fast towards the asteroid, as they get to the bottom of the crater the ship suddenly stops. NASA tell the SGC that they expect the cargo ship to have hit the asteroid at speed, there would be no survivors. They are now out of options.
Jack and Teal'c suit up and head out with the bomb. In the ship Sam starts to examine the asteroid as she is concerned at how they approached it. She finds that for an asteroid of this size, the gravity field is far stronger than expected. At that moment a meteor shower starts and the ships hull is breached. When Jack and Teal'c arrive back they find no sign of Daniel and Sam, however they have hidden themselves in the escape pods. Teal'c restores the ships life support so Daniel and Sam can come out.
Sam does some more investigation into the asteroid, she finds it is made of Naquada, it must be a Goa'uld trick. The bomb they plan to use will turn the asteroid into a giant fireball that will burn the Earth. Jack and Teal'c rush back to the bomb and go to disarm it. The computer has however been disabled and Jack has to manually disarm it. Looking at the wires he finds them all to be the same colour. Jack guesses at which ones to cut, luckily he gets it right.
At the SGC Hammond tells Frasier he isn't going to the Alpha site, there are far more important people than him. Frasier and Davis leave as the asteroid passes the fail safe point.
On the cargo ship they come up with a new plan, they will attempt to jump the asteroid into hyperspace and carry it through the Earth, emerging on the other side. It works.
At the SGC Hammond talks to the President, he says that all he knows is that the asteroid just disappeared, he thinks SG-1 had something to do with it. On the cargo ship the life support is starting to run out when a Tok'ra ship arrives and rescues them.
