O'Neill is rushing back to the gate with an injured Captain Hagman, they are being chased by loads of primitive locals. Sam starts dialling and they manage to get back to the SGC. Hagman however has been hit with a tranq. dart and collapses, Jack walks past Hammond and just says "Next". Hammond tells Sam he got a call from Area 51 and that "it’s done."

Sam goes to see Jonas, she tells him that they are taking a trip to Nevada and that he is invited, but she won't tell him what it is about. Arriving at Area 51 they are shown a new fighter, the X-302. It is a human built effort using retro-engineered Goa'uld tech, it also has a hyper drive generator thanks to Jonas's Naquadria.

A while later, back at the SGC, Hammond is talking to the Russian liaison to the base, Col. Chekhov. Jack arrives and is told Chekhov wants a Russian to be the fourth SG-1 team member, Jack refuses point blank. Jonas goes to see Sam and asks to look over the plans for the X-302, she lets him have them. He also asks Sam to speak to O'Neill about him joining SG-1, she tells him that it is unlikely that would happen. Jonas is now boxing with Teal'c. He asks Teal'c to speak to O'Neill, if he can knock him down. Teal'c agrees. Later in the canteen Teal'c is getting a snack and goes over to Jack. He says that Jonas should be considered for SG-1, but Jack is against that as well. As they talk the gate dials up and Brat'ac arrives.

Brat'ac tells Teal'c that his wife Dray'ac is very ill, Hammond gives Teal'c permission to leave. Later Sam and Jonas are walking and talking when Chekhov comes up to them, he demands to know why he wasn't told about the X-302. They go to Hammond's office where he is told that the 302 was a human built craft and not procured through the stargate. As Chekhov argues the point the gate dials up again, however nothing is in transit but the gate isn't shutting down. They wonder if it is a prelude to a Goa'uld attack.

Dray'ac and Rya'c live in a rebel Jaffa encampment. Brat'ac tells Teal'c that they couldn't procure a symbiote for Dray'ac and that she wouldn't have any Jaffa, free or not, sacrificed to save her. As they reach a tent Rya'c comes out, he tells Teal'c that his mother is dead. Teal'c goes too see Rya'c who is very angry at him. Rya'c tells Teal'c that he has chosen to revenge his mothers death and points a staff weapon at Teal'c but can't fire it, instead he starts hitting Teal'c with it.

At the SGC the incoming wormhole stays open past the 38 minute mark. Later they start doing some investigation into the gate via the computer systems. They find a very small but constant amount of energy is being channelled into the gate. Sam says that if this carries on for another few days the gate will explode, taking all life on Earth with it.

Brat'ac stops Rya'c from beating Teal'c too much, he says that his grief should not cloud his judgment and that Teal'c isn't responsible for what has happened, the Goa'uld are. Teal'c though says that Rya'c is correct, he chose this way of life for them. That evening they burn Dray'ac's body. During the proceedings Rya'c walks away, Teal'c goes to follow but Brat'ac stops him and tells Teal'c a few home truths about his son. After the ceremony is over Teal'c goes to see Rya'c, he tells his son that he was once brainwashed by Apophis and betrayed his friends, he says he has never doubted Rya'c's heart. The two are reconciled.

At the SGC Dr McKay arrives to help out. Sam tells Hammond that Area 51 has informed her that the X-302 can be made ready to fly so they can contact the Asgard. Jack and Sam head down there.

One of Teal'c's old friends, Shaq'rel arrives at the encampment and tells them he has learned Anubis is going to attack the Tau'ri.

On Earth Jonas goes to see Hammond, he tells him that after looking over all the X-302 specs he can't see the Naquadria Hyperspace Generator working. Jack and Sam prepare to go to Abydos as it’s the nearest planet to Earth. They set the co-ordinates and the hyperspace window opens, however the ship doesn't enter it, Jonas was correct.

Teal'c and Brat'ac try to dial Earth but can't get through. Shaq'rel tells them that Anubis has a new weapon which uses one stargate to destroy another. Brat'ac says they will try dialling worlds that Anubis controls, if they can't get through to one of them, this must be where the attacking is originating.

Jack and Sam return to the SGC. As Sam mopes in her office, unable to come up with any suggestions they receive some strange readings through the gate and go to the gate room. Suddenly a holographic image of Anubis is projected into the gate room, he tells them that their days are numbered and nothing can save them now..... TO BE CONTINUED
