A Doctor Michaels is talking to Sam from a
base that has been set up at the site of the Antarctic gate site. They discuss
the stargate network and the fact that the gate found there was one of the oldest
they have seen. However in the 4 years since that discovery all they have found
have been a few frozen
SG-1 and Dr Frasier arrive at the base and are taken to the quarantine area. The scientists have found a frozen body in the ice and the samples they have taken from around it date to 25-30 million years old. Michaels has named the body Ayiana. Frasier looks over the data Michaels has plus does some tissue samples, she finds that Ayiana's cells are still intact and they decide to thaw her out. As the ice melts Frasier gets some cortical responses and brainwaves, they speed up the melting process. After Ayiana has been thawed out they hook her up to the machines and find a heartbeat which slowly starts to increase. Ayiana regains consciousness.
Woods and Osborne leave the base to get more ice samples to double check their findings. Jonas goes to talk to Ayiana. She is able to repeat some of the words he says but isn't able to put any sentences together. Frasier has been examining Ayiana's brainwaves and finds they have some of the same patterns as Cassandra's when she was being experimented on by Nyerti plus the same as Jack's when he had the Ancients knowledge in his mind. It appears Ayiana has telepathic abilities.
In the quarantine area Michaels collapses and is running a high fever. Ayiana seems to be carrying a contagion and Frasier quarantines the base. O'Neill tries to contact Woods and Osborne but gets no response. Osborne returns but is very weak, he has got separated from Woods. Jack and Teal'c go out to find him.
Jack and Teal'c located Woods via his tracker and get him back to the base. He is in thermal shock and then goes into de fib. Ayiana comes over as they are about to shock him and places her hands on his chest and head. She concentrates hard and energy seems to flow through Woods body, she has healed him. Jonas asks Ayiana to heal Michaels and Osborne which she does, but it leaves her very weak.
Frasier examines Ayiana and finds her white blood cell count down, her immune system is weakening. She may be able to heal the others but it could kill her. Woods goes to see and thank Ayiana but she knocks him out. Ayiana goes to heal the others and succeeds with all but O'Neill, she collapses before she gets to him.
The storm that has kept a disease control team out passes and they get some help. O'Neill is now the only one ill of the team but Ayiana is seriously weak, Frasier takes them back to the SGC in quarantine pods. Back at the SGC Hammond tells them the Tok'ra have been called and are on the way, however Ayiana is still the best chance to save them. Ayiana wakes and tells Jonas she is sorry, she then dies.
A Tok'ra called Toran arrives at the SGC and tells them that the only chance for O'Neill is blending. The Tok'ra have a symbiote ready and it would leave O'Neill once another host was found or before if O'Neill wanted. They decide to ask Jack. Sam goes to see him and puts it to him, she tells him the symbiote has vital info the Tok'ra need. Jack reluctantly agrees and is taken away in a quarantine pod.
