Nightwalkers

A man rushes to his car during the middle of the night and drives away fast. He makes a call, it is to Sam. He tells her that his name is Richard Fleming, she doesn't know him but he needs her help. Fleming says he knows about Adrian Conrad and that they never shut the project down, he needs protecting. A car comes up behind him and Sam just hears a crashing noise before the phone goes dead.

At the SGC Sam briefs everyone. Fleming worked for a company called Imunotec, they were owned by Adrian Conrad’s firm, Z-Etronics. Hammond says that they should talk to Fleming but is told that his car was found wrecked, but with no body to be seen. Hammond decides to send Sam, Jonas and Teal'c to investigate.

They arrive in the small town of Steveston, where Imunotec is based. Sam goes to speak to the local sheriff, Knox. She is told Fleming was acting rather strange of late plus had amphetamines in his car. Sam asks to see Fleming’s lab but is told that it was destroyed in a fire the night before. As they leave the sheriff's office they are watched. They go to Fleming's house but find nothing, however while they are there a parcel is delivered, it is from Fleming to himself. Sam opens it, inside is a syringe filled with an orange liquid.

That evening the locals all gather in a warehouse. One man talks and says that if the new people in town find anything, they will have to be dealt with.

The next morning they are all eating breakfast when Jonas points out he has noticed all the locals acting strangely. Sam is called in too see Sheriff Knox by his deputy. Knox gives her information that Fleming and his partner, Stofer were using. Sam goes over the info and finds out they were into Stem Cell research, cloning.

That evening Jonas and Teal'c go to the local bar and are given a cold reception. Jonas tries to break the ice and make some friends but they end up nearly getting into a fight. Knox arrives and sorts everything out. After Jonas and Teal'c have left Knox tells the locals not to do anything to jeopardise the mission otherwise he will kill them.

Sam gets some test results back from Frasier, it seems the orange liquid was a form of Sulphur base antibiotic. Sam, Jonas and Teal'c now get something to eat. Jonas sees the guy from the night before in the bar and goes to try to smooth over any miss understandings, however the guy says he has never seen Jonas before and the night before was in bed. They leave and notice they are being watched. They get the guy following them, he introduces himself as an ex-security guard for Imunotec and someone who worked with Fleming. He tells them that Fleming told him 'they only come out at night' and he was trusted as he worked at night, he thinks Fleming was murdered.

Later as Sam and Teal'c are talking Jonas suddenly remembers something as Sam mentions the shipyard. They head down there and look around. Jonas had noticed tire tracks earlier, even though the place is closed down. They look around the shipyard and find a half finished spaceship.

They go back to the motel and Sam starts to work on the computer files they found at the shipyard. Teal'c and Jonas go back to the yard that evening and see all the locals arrive. Sam finishes decrypting the files, they are Goa'uld. It seems Fleming and Stofer were cloning Conrad's symbiote. Jonas and Teal'c go to leave after Sam tells them what is going on but are stopped by Knox's deputy. Some of the locals arrive at the motel and take Sam, however before they get in she injects herself with Fleming's serum. Knox's deputy says his name is Cross and he is NID, they have been watching the locals for 3 months and know everything they are doing. They plan to take the ship after it is finished.

Sam is taken to the shipyards and implanted with a Goa'uld. Jonas, Teal'c and the NID find Sam has been taken and call in a containment team. After that is done Cross's partner zats him and the others.

They wake up at the shipyard. Cross is implanted but Sam suggests Jonas isn't as the humans don't trust him. Cross and his partner, Singer are told to take symbiotes to NID HQ. The containment team arrive and storm the shipyard, they find Jonas and Teal'c tied up and the others knocked out.

Cross and Singer are about to go to NID HQ with some symbiotes when Sam arrives, she zats them.

Back at the SGC Sam tells them that the antibiotic killed the cloned symbiotes as they had something built into them that was affected by it, a 'kill switch'. The ship has been sent to Area 51 and Hammond tells them all the locals have been vaccinated with the antibiotic, the symbiotes are dead and the locals will never know what happened.
