THE PLOT

Sam gets into a lift where Jonas is flirting with a nurse, she teases him about it. The gate dials in, it is Russian team and they are asking for medical attention. They come through the gate and have a person with them, his name is Ellebran. He tells Hammond and O'Neill that Nyerti has been experimenting on his people and asks for their help. He tells them that Nyerti arrived with an offer of help after they were hit by a disease. After a while he decided that she wasn't in fact helping and confronted her, she let him go. When he returned to his village all the other people were dead. He found the Russian team exploring the planet. It seems that Nyerti is again trying to create a Hoc'tar for herself. Ellebran says that he thinks he is changed inside by the machine Nyerti uses and starts to crease up in pain, they rush him towards an x-ray room however on the way there his body disintegrates into water.

SG-1 and the Russian team go to Ellebran's planet. Nyerti has only 10 Jaffa guarding the path from the stargate to her base, but they are well positioned. Jonas & Sam set up some explosives and cause a diversion, the others take the Jaffa out.

They arrive at Nyerti's palace and find some of the locals inside, they are mutated. They tell SG-1 that Nyerti is helping them and she isn't here at the moment. Their leader Wodan believes that Nyerti is a god, as does his associate Edgar. He tells them that his brother, Ellebran was made right by Nyerti, SG-1 say he is dead and so is his village, Wodan will not believe them. Jack goes to brief Ivanov while Sam looks over Nyerti's gene machine. As Jack goes to leave Edgar reads his mind and says that he knows he wants to kill Nyerti. Jack says he doesn't want to do that as they need her to operate the machine. Jonas and Teal'c go with the mutants and end up getting captured as they don't want Nyerti hurt. Wodan displays telekinetic powers.

Sam is working on the machine and calls Jonas for some assistance but gets no reply. She calls Jack instead and he gets no reply from anyone else either. The rings in the main room operate and two Jaffa ring in, Sam zats them. She goes to recover their weapons but is hit by a zat blast, Nyerti uncloaks. Jack arrives to find Nyerti holding Sam hostage and he is captured as well.

Wodan and Edgar bring Ivanov to the cells, he has been in Nyerti's machine. They take Carter away with them. Ivanov apologises to O'Neill for getting captured, he says that the machine has done something to him. Sam is put through the machine and then taken back, Nyerti calls for Jonas. Jonas tries to jump Edgar and Wodan but gets nowhere. Nyerti puts him in the machine and finds that he is more advanced than the others. In the cells Ellebran explodes like Ellebran did.

Jonas wakes up in Nyerti's private quarters. She tells him that he is much nearer to the advanced human she wants than the others are. She offers Jonas the power to rule the galaxy with her but he says that he would use the powers to free his friends and kill her, not necessarily in that order. Nyerti has him thrown back in the cells and orders O'Neill brought to her.

O'Neill tells Edgar that he should look into Nyerti's mind but is told it is forbidden. He pushes it more and says that if they want the complete truth he should do it, Nyerti will not know. O'Neill is put into the machine but before Nyerti can operate it Edgar reads her mind and finds out the truth, he tells Wodan. Wodan uses his powers to kill the 2 guards and then starts strangling Nyerti. She pleads with him but he isn't listening, he snaps her neck. Before she was killed Edgar also took the information to operate the machine from her mind, he uses it to cure Sam. They tell SG-1 that once they have cured themselves they will destroy the machine so no more harm can be done with it. SG-1 departs.
