SG-1 arrive on a volcanic world where they find people buried under the volcanic ash, some are still alive.
Sam finds a survivor.
They take the survivors back to the SGC. Once awake the leader Omac of the race called the Tollan asks where he is, he tells them that the Tollan are aware of the Goa'uld but don't interact with them. Omac says that everything that was taken from them when they were brought her is to be returned to them and that they be allowed to go. As Sam leaves one of the Tollan watches her.
One of the Tollan is asking after Sam and Hammond asks her to speak with him, he is called Narim. Hammond gets Sam to take Narim to the surface and talk to him. Narim is very interested in the animals he sees as there have been none on Tollan for generations.
They decide to send a UAV to Tollan but they find out the larva is heading toward the stargate, it will bury it in a matter of days. the survivors have now become refugees but they don't want to be on Earth and will need to be relocated. Jack and Teal'c set off in search of some of the friends they have made to see if anyone will have them.
The Tollan escape their room and are found outside observing the stars. The next day Tupolo arrives from the Land Of Light (The Broca Divide) and says the Tollan are welcome to share their world, Omac refuses outright as the people there are very primitive.
Omac tells Jack that the Tollan escaped as a test and that the reaction was exactly as they foresaw it would be. Jack tells Omac the Tollan haven't given them a reason to trust them at all.
Jack and Omac have a heated argument.
SG-1 are called away and are shown a video of the Tollan escaping, they just went through the walls after activating some kind of device on their arms. At that moment a Col. Maybourne arrives from the NID, he is hear to take the Tollan away for 'questioning'.

Hammond tells Maybourne the Tollan are still under quarantine and can't yet be released, he has Maybourne taken to guest quarters. Hammond now tells SG-1 to find him some alternatives.
A while later Hammond has spoken to the President but it seems Maybourne got there first, the Tollan will be released to the NID. Maybourne wants them ready for 6am the next morning.
Hammond tells them Maybourne has won.
SG-1 get Hammond above the surface and speak to him. They say Daniel is not in the military and so can't be court-martialled for trying to free the Tollan. Daniel goes to see Omac, he says they think they know somewhere they could go but the inhabitants, the Nox (The Nox) have buried there gate. Omac takes Daniel to the surface and uses some of the Tollan technology to send a message through space to the Nox.
Omac send a message to the Nox.
Narim goes to see Sam and says goodbye to her, he says he is reluctant to leave as he will not see her again, he uses a device to show Sam some of his feelings for her and kisses her.
As Maybourne outlines his plan to Hammond the gate starts to dial up, it is from an unknown off world location. The Tollan have also escaped. The Tollan are in the gate room and Maybourne is going mad that they are seemingly escaping.
Everyone observes the Tollan in the gate room.
The Nox Lya arrives through the gate but Maybourne says he will shoot everyone in the gate room if they don't stop. Lya makes the Tollan disappear and then the weapons of the guards, she tells Daniel that while he has grown up the rest of us haven't and goes back through the stargate.
Lya beckons the Tollan away.
