In space above a desert planet a solo Death Glider is being attacked by two motherships. On the planet below SG-1 are awaiting the Tok'ra who they recieved a signal from. They see the Glider approaching, now damaged, it flies over them and crashes behind a sand drift. They rush over and find a badly injured Apophis, he asks for there help. They decide to take him back to the SGC as the Gliders from the motherships circle above as they also want Apophis alive.
The Death Glider is attacked as Teal'c watches on.
Arriving at the SGC Apophis demands sanctuary. Hammond orders him locked up but Dr Frasier says he must be taken to the infirmary. Frasier manages to stabalise him but it seems Apophis has been tortured the same way the ashrack tortured Jolinar (In The Line Of Duty). In a briefing they discuss the situation, it seems Apophis has manipulated the situation, knowing the Tau'ri would be simpatetic even to an enemy. Hammond says they need to extract as much information as possible from him.
In the infirmary Apophis wakes, he asks to speak to O'Neill. Apophis tells him that he will reveal all the secrets of the Goa'uld to them if they provide him with a new host. Jack refuses and as he leaves Apophis tells him that the attacking Goa'uld is Sokar, an ancient and powerful Goa'uld who has come to power due to Apophis's downfall, Apophis has come to Earth because he knows that Sokar will go to any lengths to retrieve him, including destroying Earth.
Apophis and O'Neill talk.
The gate dials up and something comes through, hitting the iris, a radiation team is called in to determine what it was. Daniel now goes to talk to Apophis, they discuss Amonet/Sha're. Apophis says he loves Amonet, but Daniel doesn't believe him. Daniel tells Apophis he knows where his child is, he took him, not Heru-ur.
Daniel talks to Apophis.
Sam arrives, the thing that hit the iris was the box they gave the Tok'ra. The gate dials up again and this time they risk leaving the iris open, Martouf arrives with two other Tok'ra, he tells them they must return Apophis to the planet they found him on.
In a briefing they tell Martouf what happened. Lantash takes control and tells them again they must return Apophis, it runs into quite a heated argument. Martouf takes control again and says that they of course wouldn't force the SGC to do anything and could they talk to Apophis.
The Tok'ra and SG-1 discuss what has happened.
Martouf tries to talk to Apophis but all he is doing is calling out Amonet's name, the host them appears briefly before they both become unconcious. As the Tok'ra are about to leave the gate dials up and a number of objects hit the iris, Sokar has found them. An image then appears on the iris, Sokar is using a particle accelerator to project it, he tells everyone there that they will all die, the iris then starts to heat up.
Sokar gives the SGC a message.
Sam now goes to see Apophis along with Teal'c. As Apophis's pain levels increase Sam goes to get Dr Frasier leaving Teal'c alone with him. Teal'c tells him that the people of Chulak are now free from him and no longer fear him, they will use the Goa'uld as they used them, discarding the symbiotes when they reach maturity and then taking new ones.
In the gate room the iris is heating up, when it shuts down after 38 minutes they try to dial out but Sokar dials back in faster. Hammond has now recieved new orders, Apophis is to be allowed to die then returned to Sokar, if they can dial out. Martouf tells them that they have come to there senses, lets hope it is in time.
Hammond tells them the new orders.
Jack goes to see Apophis again but the host has returned, he gets Daniel. Daniel speaks to him and tells him that he will perform a rite of death and that he will be buried with honour and return to his family. Apophis then reappears and says he is afraid, he then dies but the host is still alive. Daniel performs the ceremony and the host dies.
The 38 minute window has come around again and they manage to dial out this time. Teal'c send Apophis's body back through the wormhole.
Teal'c returns Apophis's body.
They wait to see if Sokar will attack again but he doesn't. Martouf tells them that Sokar will most likely revive Apophis and torture him for as long as he sees fit, then execute him, we should all be glad it is what he deserves, the faces of the SG members show that they are not happy. Before they leave the Tok'ra give us a Tollan communication unit so we can contact them, we give them a GDO so they can safely come to Earth.
