SG-1 are on Tollana requesting diplomatic relations, the Tollans agrees but again refuse to share any weapons technology. Daniel tries to make a case for being given the technology but the Tollans again refuse and Jack storms off. On the way back to the gate Jack steals the device the Tollan used to disable there own and the Goa'uld's weapons (Pretense).
Jack takes what the Tollan will not give.
Back at the SGC Hammond is pleased with the aquisition, unaware of how it was aquired. Jack tells him the truth and they get into a big arguement. Hammond relieves Jack of his command and sends him to the infirmary, he orders Teal'c to escort him. The gate dials up and the Tollan arrive demanding the return of their technology and the termination of diplomatic relations.
Dr Frasier gives Jack the all clear and Hammond calls him into his office, the Tollan want charges pressed but Hammond offers him another option, early retirement.
Daniel goes to see Jack at his house, Jack tells him that he never really knew him and that the friendship they had obviously wasn't much, Daniel leaves. A while later Jack gets another visitor, it is Col. Maybourne.
Col Maybourne arrives.
Maybourne knows what has happened and says he wants to offer Jack a job, leading a team through the gate to retrieve whatever technology they need. Jack tells Maybourne to get out, but Maybourne leaves him a card for when he gets bored of waiting.
At the SGC, SG-1 are assigned a new CO, Col. Makepeace.
One week later Jack calls up Maybourne, he accepts the job offer. On a plane Maybourne shows Jack one of the devices they have obtained, a Goa'uld com ball. Through the device Maybourne introduces Jack to the temporary CO of the unit he will command from an offworld base, a man called Numan. Jack accepts command of the unit.

At the SGC Jack goes to see Hammond, he asks to be allowed to retire offworld to Edora (A Hundred Days), Hammond agrees but tells Jack he can't be given a GDO. Jack gates to Edora and then gates straight to another planet where Maybournes men have a base.
Jack meets his new team, including an engineer who confuses him with technobabble, she tells him that they send small items back to Earth, larger items are backwards engineered and the plans sent to Maybourne.

Maybourne calls them up with a mission, they will go to a planet designated PX3-595. Numan tells Jack that they will be aquiring a device that makes people vanish. Arriving on the planet they find the device easily, it is Asgard in design and Jack is told the planet is under Asgard protection. Back at the base Jack decides he will take the device to a drop off point where a mole in an SG team will pick it up to take it to Earth.
Jack drops off the device but before he can dial back out again SG-1 arrive. Jack hides and observes them, when they leave he sees Makepeace take the device. Jack dials out and leaves, after he is gone an Asgard transports down and sees the co-ordinates he went to.
Back at the base an Asgard ship arrives and starts transporting things out of the base.

Jack tells everyone they can either come with him to Earth or go with the Asgard. Arriving back at the SGC all of the rogue troops are arrested, and Jack also arrests Makepeace. The Tollan arrive and it is annunced it has all been a trick to uncover this rogue operation. As they all leave the gate room Jack tells Daniel they are still good friends, Daniel tells Jack that he only came to visit because he got the short straw!
Everyone is told the last week has all been a rouse.
