THE PLOT

A delegation of humans, called Pangarans, awaits the arrival of 'aliens' through the stargate. This is their first contact with anyone since finding the stargate. There are two main officials, Dollan and Tegar. Tegar, the military leader urges caution as the people they are meeting are more technologically advanced. As they talk the gate dials up, SG-1 arrives.

They convene in a conference room and start to talk. The Pangarans are excited by the finding of their stargate but do not know how to use it, they want to know. In exchange they offer a medical drug called Tritonnin and say that it clears all ills and gives perfect health. Jack and Sam continue to negotiate with the Pangaran leaders and offer them details of 10 friendly worlds and basic 'how to use' instructions for the stargate. The Pangarans however want to visit world listed at the temple ruins near the gate, at least 3 of them are Goa'uld home worlds.

Jonas and Teal'c go to the temple ruins. They are interested in looking round and helping the Pangaran archaeological teams there. The meet a Dr Zenna Volt who starts to show them around. Zenna tells them that there is something they need to know about the Tritonnin, but won't speak near the guards.

Sam and Jack take a sample of Tritonnin back to Earth, they tell Jonas and Teal'c to keep digging. Jonas goes to see Zenna and asks her about the Tritonnin, she tells him that he must have misunderstood her. Jonas later goes to look in her tent, he finds she is on Tritonnin and takes regular shots. They decide to go and check out where the shots are given.

Jonas and Teal'c find where they make the medicine, there are pools full of Goa'uld symbiotes. Some guards arrive and one of them falls into one of the pools with Jonas. The guard is taken by one of the symbiotes and when they pull him out of the pool he is completely out of it.

Jack and Sam arrive back and demand to know where the Goa'uld came from. The Pangarans not wishing to keep secrets from SG-1, show them, they have a Goa'uld Queen. The guard has been taken to the medical facility, he is like a blank slate. SG-1 tell the Pangarans that they will call the Tok'ra for help. Malek and a female Tok'ra called Kelmaa arrive. They see the Queen and tell SG-1 that she is very old. Kelmaa scans her and finds she is dieing, this is likely to be why the symbiotes are blank.

Frasier contacts SG-1, she tells them that the Tritonnin has a major side effect, it works like a symbiote and that the immune system will not recover once the user stops using it.

In the temple Jonas finds some writings that mention Ra. According to the writings Ra used the planet as a base of operations. It goes onto say that the temple was a prison for one of Ra's enemies. The writings say 'Here lies Egeria, betrayer of the Goa'uld. May she suffer for eternity.' The Queen is the Tok'ra founder.

The Tok'ra agree to help find an antidote, however when they find out the Queen in Egeria they seem to clam up about the antidote. SG-1 go to see the Pangarans about releasing Egeria, the Tok'ra see it is an affront to have her held captive. Kelmaa gets inside the lab where Egeria is being held, she sacrifices herself so that Egeria can have a host.

Egeria awakens. She tells Malek that she is indeed near death and will not see anymore of her children. She tells Sam that she gave her symbiotes a defective gene to try and stop the Pangarans using her, she says that the Pangarans do not deserve their fate. The Pangarans apologise to her and she says that she will give the details to create an antidote to Tritonnin. As the Tok'ra leave with Egeria's body the Pangarans tell SG-1 that they hope they can rebuild some bridges and become allies.
