THE PLOT

Flashbacks to Rite Of Passage & Metamorphosis.

SG-1 are on P45-237, a backward planet where the locals are forced to mine Naquada for Baal. They are in discussion with two villagers, the leader Elori and his second Chasen. SG-1 tell them that according to the information they have Baal abandoned the planet 100 years ago. They are told that they still make Naquada contributions via Baal's emissary, Lord Mot. Jonas is feeling very hot and sees a flash of the two men talking, Chasen is telling Elori to stop being stupid. A few moments later the conversation actually occurs, exactly as Jonas saw it. Elori tells SG-1 that they have an ancient prophecy that says people will come through the Chap'ai to free them. Jonas collapses.

Back at SGC, Dr Frasier has done an MRI on Jonas. She has found an unusual amount of brain activity but doesn't know if it is to do with why he collapsed.

In a briefing SG-1 speculate that Mot could be going to try and overthrow Baal, now would make an ideal time to try and free the planet as the System Lords don't know it is still being actively mined and wouldn't send a replacement for Mot if he died. O'Neill says that they need more information before they proceed. Jonas has another flash, he is in his office when Sam walks in and asks him if he wants some lunch. When he goes back to his office the events play out as he saw them. Jonas tells Sam what has happened and that it also happened on the planet. Frasier goes to see Hammond, she has found a 2nd spot on the MRI that she can't explain. She thinks Jonas should be taken off active duty.

SG-1 inform Jonas that Hammond has decided to agree with Frasier and has taken him off duty. He pauses for a minute and tells them that a Tok'ra called Sena is coming. Moments later the gate dials up and a Tok'ra called Sena arrives. Sena tells them that Baal recently suffered a defeat at the hands of Yu and is weakened. Mot is going to move against him and if he gains a place among the System Lords they have no hope of freeing the planet.

Later Jonas tells Sam that he thinks Nyerti has done something to him, he was in her gene machine for over an hour. Frasier tells Hammond that a tumour is growing in Jonas brain and it will kill him if not removed. Jonas asks them for more time as he wants to hone his abilities to help them. Hammond gives him 24 hours but he will have to stay on base. Later Jonas is talking to Frasier, he has a flash where he sees Sam injured from what looks like a staff blast. He rushes to the gate room and stops SG-1 leaving. Sam has to stay behind while Jack & Teal'c go with SG-15 to 237.

On 237, Chasen removes a Goa'uld com unit.

Back at SGC there is a medical emergency. A capacitor has blown on the gate power supply and injured Siler & Carter. It is just as Jonas saw in his vision. Sam is okay and Jonas goes to apologise to her, he blames himself for not interpreting the vision properly. Sam tells him that it is okay and his visions may not always be correct.

On 237 Jack, Teal'c and SG-15 are preparing an attack on Mot. Chasen arrives and tells Elori that he has sorted everything out, Lord Mot is coming. He then knocks them all out with a Goa'uld stun grenade. They are all locked up in a cell. Mot comes to speak to them, he shows them he has their GDO's and that he knows an iris protects the Earth stargate and he needs these to open it. He tells them he will spare the villagers if they give him the codes. He will then destroy the SGC for which Anubis will be greatly pleased and so killing Baal won't go against him. Jack refuses to help him.

At SGC Jonas collapses. He later wakes up in the infirmary and has a vision of SGC getting attacked from an incoming wormhole with an SG-15 ID code. He says that the gate room, if not the whole mountain is destroyed. He tells Sam and Hammond what he has seen and then tries to see more of the vision. He sees Jack, Teal'c and SG-15 being ambushed at the gate site on 237, they are killed after SG-15 activate the stargate and send their GDO code.

On 237 Elori's daughter frees Jack, Teal'c and SG-15. She tells them how to get to the gate. Jonas tells Sam what he saw and they dial 237 to warn the others. Chasen hears the radio message and finds the prisoners gone so he raises the alarm. Jack hears the alarm and sees Jaffa approaching the stargate. A fire fight starts. Mot demands to know who raised the alarm as he had set an ambush for the Tau'ri and let them escape. He starts to use a hand device on Chasen but is shot dead by Elori's daughter.

At SGC Jonas is undergoing the operation to remove the growth. An incoming wormhole is received and the iris opened when they get SG-15's iris code, they can't risk not opening it in case it really is them, however the gate room is heavily barricaded. The operation on Jonas is a success. The team arrives back through the gate, Jack asks to go back to 237 with reinforcements as they can easily win the battle.
