THE PLOT

On Abydos, Skaara runs to a tent where a group of Abydonians are gathered. He is told that it is true Anubis is coming and he must rally all those who are willing to fight. Skaara says that they mean all those willing to die and a figure turns round, it is Daniel Jackson. He tells Skaara that they will not be alone.

As SGC Jack gets into an elevator. As it goes down the power cuts out and it stops. Daniel is in the lift. He tells Jack that Anubis is on his way to Abydos to find something called the Eye of Ra, Jack and his team must go there and find it before Anubis does. Jack informs the others what happened in a briefing and they believe him, Hammond okays the mission.

SG-1 arrives on Abydos and meets Skaara. He shows them where the Abydonians have excavated looking for the eye, they have had no luck finding it yet though. Teal'c meanwhile goes with some of the Abydonians to set up a perimeter around the pyramid entrance.

Anubis' ship arrives and he immediately begins to attack using Gliders, Alkesh and troops. Teal'c and his group have to retreat under heavy fire and they set up a line of defence just inside the pyramid. The others meanwhile are having no luck looking for the eye and Jack calls out for Daniel, he appears. Daniel says that he can do no more than he has but Jack tells him that if he doesn't the mission will fail. Daniel decides to give them some help and he joins Jonas and Sam to look for the eye.

After some searching Daniel, Jonas and Sam find an entrance to a secret chamber and manage to open the door. Meanwhile at the pyramid entrance Anubis forces start an assault, most of the Abydonians are killed and Skaara is badly wounded. Teal'c and Jack retreat. In Ra's chamber Daniel finds a tablet. It talks about the Ancients and a lost city. It says the ascended beings are the Ancients. Daniel says he must go and disappears.

Anubis dials up the Abydos stargate blocking any possible escape for SG-1. In the chamber Jonas and Sam find a fake wall and Sam blows some holes in it with her P90, inside is the Eye. Jack and Teal'c arrive carrying the injured Skaara. Jonas gives the Eye to Jack and he attaches explosive to it. Anubis First Prime arrives, it is Harak (see The Other Guys). Jack tells him to let them go otherwise the Eye will be blown up, Harak leaves to talk to his master.

On Anubis ship, Harak is told that the Tau'ri will hand over the Eye otherwise Abydos will be destroyed. After Harak leaves Daniel appears, he tells Anubis that if he tries to destroy Abydos he will stop him. Anubis tells Daniel his threats are empty and he will not stop him, he knows what Daniel is yet Daniel does not know what he is. Anubis reveals himself, he is an ascended being.

In the pyramid Skaara's body dies, he then ascends.

On Anubis ship Daniel says he may not have to do anything, a fleet of Goa'uld ships has arrived. Yu contacts Anubis and tells him that the combined fleet of the System Lords stands against him and that he is to hand over the eye of be destroyed. Daniel tells Anubis that he can have the Eye on the condition that he leaves Abydos alone, Anubis agrees to the deal.

Daniel arrives back in the pyramid and is told about Skaara, he is surprised, and it means Oma must be here watching however he no longer cares. He informs SG-1 what Anubis is and that he has struck a deal with him. SG-1 will hand over the Eye, in the confusion they will escape and start looking for the Ancients lost city. The System Lords will also attack Anubis and they will all suffer loses, Anubis will retreat and Abydos will be safe. He says that whatever happens, Anubis must not get the Ancient tablet as he would then become invincible. Jack takes Daniel's advice and they hand the Eye to Harak, the Jaffa then leave.

Harak hands the Eye over to Anubis and his ship transforms into a giant weapon. Anubis fires on the other Goa'uld ships and they start to explode, meanwhile his ship isn't scratched. The remaining Goa'uld ships retreat.

In the pyramid SG-1 find all that remains of the Abydonians are there clothes. They dial up Earth.

Anubis now turns the ship towards Abydos. Daniel arrives and tells Anubis to stop. Anubis tells Daniel that if he is going to do something he had better do it now. Daniel tries to stop Anubis but is pulled away. Harak can't believe his eyes but Anubis tells him that he did not do that, however he did do this. He fires the weapon on Abydos and it strikes the pyramid. Inside Jack sees energy starting to build up. The pyramid explodes and the planets surface starts to erupt.

At SGC Jack comes out of the wormhole, it is destabilising. They shut the iris just before a massive energy surge comes through. They try to redial Abydos but the stargate will not obtain a lock.

In a briefing they decide that they need to find the lost city mentioned in the tablet. Jonas says that Dr Jackson said he would help translate the tablet properly however Sam says that they shouldn't count on Daniel as something must have stopped him from acting against Anubis and protecting Abydos.

After numerous attempts to redial Abydos they finally get a lock. MALP telemetry shows the pyramid and planet to be intact and without a scratch. SG-1 go through and head toward the Abydonians village. They see Skaara who tells them that Anubis destroyed the pyramid and everyone is dead, however that is only the beginning. One named Oma did this to them. He tells Jack that he will find his way. The village disappears leaving just Skaara and SG-1, he tells them the Chaap'ai will remain until they leave. They turn and head off towards a solitary gate standing in the sand.
