At an airfield SG-1 are waiting for Teal'c when Hammond arrives with a General Vidrine. Jack radios Teal'c and asks him where he is, Teal'c tells them to look towards the southwest, suddenly a Death Glider flies low and fast overhead.
The X301 passes overhead.
General Vidrine wants to know what the craft is, Major Davies (Last seen in Small Victories) tells him it is the X301 interceptor, a hybrid of the two gliders SG-1 recovered from Apophis and augmented with US technology. Sam tells him that they now have something on which to work to launch an attack on a Goa'uld ship.
Teal'c lands the craft and they all discuss it, the craft will hopefully be used as an orbital defence platform under Vidrine's control. The next test is a live fire test with O'Neill taking second seat, the others depart back to the SGC which will act as the Command Centre for the exercise.
The SGC acts as the HQ for the tests.
Designated Digger One, Teal'c and O'Neill are given the green light to proceed, as they approach the target Teal'c accelerates but the craft suddenly starts gaining altitude and leaves the Earth's atmosphere. As the craft moves away from Earth at a fast rate Jack tries to contact the SGC, to no avail. Suddenly all the drives shut down and when Teal'c goes to try and restart them a message from Apophis plays over the speakers, he has planted a recall device in all his ships after Teal'c's defection so that anyone else who ever tried it in a ship would end up returned to his homeworld and would die in the cold of space.
Back at the SGC, General Vidrine departs to see if there is anything his department can do. Daniel meanwhile leaves to contact Earth's allies who have space travel. Sam meanwhile comes up with an idea, they could try and nudge the X301 slightly so that it would slingshot around Jupiter and return to Earth. Finally managing to make contact with X301, the SGC are told that they have no power what-so-ever to try and nudge the ship, Jack though comes up with an idea, what if they try and use the rocket engines on the missiles they are carrying as there systems are unaffected by Apophis's bug. After getting the calculations they try it but it fails and the craft ends up getting damaged by the missiles, they now are loosing power and life support.
The X301 approaches Jupiter.
At a briefing at the SGC it is suggested Jack and Teal'c try to override the recall device but Sam says they shouldn't as it most likely is hooked up to a failsafe device that would most likely make matters worse. Daniel tells them that the Tollen regret they have no ships near enough, the Tok'ra on the other hand do, but the operative is on an undercover mission and the high council does not want them disturbed, Anise though did tell Daniel that the operative was someone close to both of them and also on a Goa'uld controlled planet within reach of Earth, Sam says that therefore they will be able to find the operative, there is only one world that would match the description, P2C-257.
On the X301 Teal'c and Jack shut down all non essentials to conserve power, unfortunately they have only 12 hours of oxygen left and the Tok'ra ship will take 24 hours to reach them.
Jack and Teal'c are stuck in the X301.
Sam and Daniel arrive on 257 and observe the mine when they are suddenly transported aboard a Tel'tak, the Tok'ra operative is Sam's father, Jacob.
Jacob Carter.
Jacob is angry at them, he was in 20 minutes to blow up a weapons grade shipment of Naquada that would have vaporised half the planet, if he hadn't have seen them come threw the gate they would have most likely ended up dead. Sam and Daniel tell him what has happened and he calms down and agrees to help.
Jacob is pushing the Tel'tak at 130+% of recommended power, unfortunately it causes the engines to fail and they have to stop and make repairs. They drop out of hyperspace and run right into two of Heru-ur's ships, Daniel manages to buy them enough time by telling them they serve the great and powerful Oz. On the X301 Teal'c enters a deep state of Kel'norime so that they may conserve oxygen and hopefully will last the 24 hrs.
As Hammond prepares to send Jack and Teal'c a final message Sam gets in contact with them, they have arrived and are trying to make contact with the X301. Managing to wake an unconscious O'Neill and also Teal'c Sam tells them that they will have to eject themselves into space so that they can be beamed aboard the Tel'tak.
Jack and Teal'c are picked up by the Tel'tak.
Jack and Teal'c are both fine, Sam gets in contact with the SGC to tell them the good news, everyone there celebrates.
Celebration at the SGC.
